Total Gym - great workout!,

This review is from: Total Gym Xl (Misc.)
I have been using the Total Gym XL for around 5 weeks. If you are a serious bodybuilder, this is probably not the home gym for you. But if you are looking to tone up and strenghten your whole body, or, if you are like me, over 55 and trying not to lose any more muscle mass :) this is GREAT piece of equipment! After just a couple days of getting used to the gym, it takes just seconds to change the resistance level, add or remove the wing attachment, or add or remove the cable pulley for the various exercises. The included DVDs, flip chart, and wall chart make it easy to tailor your workout to your personal goals. It is a well made piece of equipment and glides very smoothly. Improvements come quickly at first - I have already moved up a level of resistance in several exercises. Highly recommended.

Total Gym XL Does ALL It Says and MORE!,
This review is from: Total Gym Xl (Misc.)
I watched the Total Gym infomercials for, I must say, 3 or more years, before purchasing.
The first one I purchased, used, was the Total Gym 1500. I liked it, but the limitations (you cannot add on accessories, Pilates, etc) was kind of disappointing, when I saw the Models XL and XLS. I saw Christie Brinkley, bouncing up and down on that round pad, and I said I WANT THAT ONE. (the 1500 does not have the padded squat stand). So, I was finally able to get the model xl from someone who was moving out of state, and had it listed for sale, I made a VERY low offer, and to my surprise, he accepted. He showed me how to fold it up, and unfold (very different from the 1500), and I drove it home, set it up, and tried it out. I fell in love instantly. I plan to lose about 60 pounds within the coming 8 months, and I know with this by my side, I WILL DO IT. VERY high quality, stable, safe. FUN! I have three DVDs waiting to teach me tons of new exercises, and this XL included ALL the bells and whistles, which you have to purchase separately, now I don't, LOL! You can feel it working from the first time you do ONE exercise. Plus, it is in your home, so no "excuse" for not wanting to go to the gym, when it is in the next room! I love it very much, and plan to maintain it with the proper care, oiling and cleaning. If you are wondering if it is worth it. I would advise, wait until you can afford the best model that you can spend for. XL for me, is perfect. I have heard the 2000 or 3000 are ok, too. The 1500 is all right for a beginner but if you really want to work it BIG TIME, you will want the accessories, and the 1500 won't take them. Good luck with your choice, and Total Gym XL Rocks! :)

Total Gym XL- Great workout! Buy one (if not getting the XLS),

My wife and I tried everything from stationary bicycle, recumbant bicycle, treadmill and free weights to a universal weight machine. This is the first piece of excercise equipment that we've ever owned that didn't turn into a close rack. The first three things I listed only focus on one part of the body and are tediously boring to use. It's hard to motivate yourself to use free weights. They look so heavy sitting there. Along comes Total Gym. You can always do a real easy workout if you want to (it's amazing how quickly you can get a good workout on a Total Gym) and once you get on it and start using it, it's easy to want to do more of a workout on it. It's the best piece of exersice equipment we've ever owned by far. If you want to build big muscles, you might want to get a few dumbbells too, but for toning and cardio, it's great. Nothing burns fat like gaining muscle (other than juice fasting). Buy a Total Gym (an XL (only available used) or XLS). I live in Hawaii and surf fairly large waves so I do know some about conditioning. Everyone we've turned on to Total Gym loves their Total Gym too.
