Unsociable side effects
on March 20, 2015
I've recently determined that it would be best to drop a few lbs. for an upcoming hiking trip, and decided I would do this through calorie restriction and increased cardio. I saw that GNC Total Lean Shake was loaded with fiber and low in calories, and decided to give it a try as a breakfast and dinner replacement.
Taste wise, it's alright. Mixed with almond milk, it has the consistency of pond scum and does a great job keeping me full for hours. I could deal with this shake, if not for the undesirable issues that come with it.
It's Day 5, and I can honestly say that I wish I'd never discovered this product. Everything was fine for the first few days, and then the painful gas kicked in. The pain soon turned into flatulence that smells like rotten eggs left to fester in a back alley dumpster. The farts are bad enough that my cat has stopped sleeping with me and I spend my gym time in a panic, terrified that I'll let one slip while running on the treadmill.
Today is the reason I am stopping this protein powder. Not only is my gut distended like a starving Ethiopian child (I'm shocked a stranger hasn't asked me when my baby is due), but I'm afraid to fart because of diarrhea that I fear will result in a shart. I ran out of a closeout store today, clenching my butt cheeks, and got into my car so I could rush home to the bathroom. I made it, thankfully, but it was a miserable experience. I feel like I've messed up my guts more in the last five days than I ever have in my life. I've had violent hangovers that were less gruesome than this.
I'm packing up my GNC Total Lean Shake and gifting it to my manager. I hate his guts.
