More than just quality, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Total Quality: Management, Organization and Strategy (Paperback)
Best book on Quality Management, Ever. I have had three quality classes with quite a few books on quality. None of them stands out as this one. What this book has to offer goes beyond classroom learning. It provides great information, knowledge, and tools that you will need in improving your ability to run a better business. I have literarly applied the concept and tools at the work place; it WORKS!

Lot's of HUGE sentences..., December 18, 2007
This review is from: Total Quality: Management, Organization and Strategy (Paperback)
This text was required for a recent college course I took. There is a lot of great information in this book, but my biggest complaint is from an editorial angle. If I were to grade this book as an instructor in English composition, I would give it two stars. If Evans had submitted this text to the English composition teachers I have studied with, he would not have gotten a very good grade.
The main reason for a bad grade in English composition would be the plethora of sentences that have 60 words and up. It is good writing etiquette to try to break off sentences to a 20-word maximum. Beyond that, the reader's comprehensive abilities are affected.
Quite typically, Evans has used rambling, run-on sentences strung together with the conjunction "and" over and over again. Typically, to make a point, he will write (for example) this point, and that point, and this point, and that point, and this point, etc.
The document lacks a strong editorial skill set. A great editor would help this poorly written text. The internal concepts are great, the ideas and knowledge inside are truly life-changing. But his English composition skills need an editor to sit down and make Evans break up these sentences into much more intelligible English. The result, having thus allowed the editor to help the author to create a book that could have a total quality advantage in English composition. It is an irony to write a text book on total quality, and then in the process of publishing to use poor quality English composition skills along with 60 and 70 word sentences that run on and on throughout the text. Poor English composition skills on the part of the author left me dreading having to read the next chapter. That is why I give Evans a "2 Stars" mark.

I was pleased that the book arrived quickly since I ordered the book for a class. This book is also listed at a higher price on other web sites. I would order from this site again.
