1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste time!, September 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Total SNMP: Exploring the Simple Network Management Protocol (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I bought this book thinking that it would provide some new insite into SNMP and all it contains is basically a rehash of publicly available documents on the internet with little additional insite into the world of SNMP. Save your money!

The book is ok for someone trying to implement a manager or agent but the index is totally worthless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best "How to write a MIB" book out there!, November 8, 2001
By
netman4u (Springfield, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Total SNMP: Exploring the Simple Network Management Protocol (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
Writing MIBs can be a daunting task and there is not much information out there on how to do it, except for the cryptic RFCs. This book lays out what is in a MIB from top to bottom and gives the syntax and examples for writing one along the way. I read Understanding SNMP MIBs, the highly rated counterpart to this book and guess what...I DID NOT UNDERSTAND MIBs after reading it! This book explains it in a more straight forward manner.
