I listened to this disc for the first time in a while and was again surprised at how good a debut this is. This album debuted at a golden time for Bad Boy Records and the tone and brash attitude of the trio instantly distinguished them from the other r&b girl groups of that era. The monster hit off of the disc is CAN'T YOU SEE which still sounds great years later.
The second huge single, KISSIN YOU is such a sweetly groovin' ballad and showed that the group wasn't only going to be the background vocalists for Bad Boy's rappers. Other standout singles to me are: NO ONE ELSE, TELL ME, LOVE IS ALL WE NEED & DON'T EVER CHANGE. Although the producers used a fair amount of samples, like on Mary J. Blige's MY LIFE, they were used in a fresh way which created a new sound for a new group. I'd recommend this disc to anyone who's curious about not only early Bad Boy artists but also how this group sounded in comparison to some of the other r&b girl groups out at that time.

Every Bad Boy Needs A Bad Girl,

The group Total came out when Bad Boy was on top and they really stoodout for a while. On their debut, this album was pretty solid although they didn't have the best voices the choice of songs showcased their vocals well. Pam had that distinct voice that you knew a Total song when you heard it. Keisha was the savvy one, and Kima had a baby voice. Anyway the best tracks on the album are "Don't Ever Change", "Kissin' You", "No One Else",and "Spend Some Time". There really aren't any filler tracks so if you haven't already should definitely check out these "former" Bad Girls.

The track "Kissin You" is tight as hell! Puff Daddy remade this song; it was the "Oh Honey" remix. I have searched for a long time to find this song. I mean did he just stop publishing it? We need to get this one back!

A Overall Good Effort But Doesn't Stand Up to Thier Talent,

I have to say that i bought the sopohmore release from total before i bought the first but the second one was so good that i had to buy the first and i'm not in anyway shape or form upset with my decision in purchasing the record. my favorite song on the album is either "kissing you" or "can't you see" (featuring The Notorious B.I.G). Biggie'z rap verse on the album is phat and the soulful smooth kissing you ballad just puts you in that state of mind where....well you get the picture! I love "no one else" (featuring Da Brat) because the R+B remix is so much different and to finally here the original version of the track shocked me. i can honestly say i've heard 3 remixez constantly of no one else but never the original. my favorite remix makes the cut on "no one else" (puff daddy remix-featuring Foxy Brown, Lil' Kim, and Da Brat). I love the way the 6 ladies sound together. i also really like the background music on "when boy meets girl" and i love to death "don't ever change". TOTAL FOREVER

A sexy, pure blend of grooves.,

I have both of Total's albums and I believe that this is the better choice. Total's second album has only 3 decent songs on it but this debut is finely cut with smooth slow jams and some good singles. My favorite songs are "Spend Some Time," "When Boy Meets Girl," and "Kissin' You," but all of the other songs are good. Don't buy Total's second album!

When I got this CD, the first song I listened to was No One Else. I've listened to the interlude Whose Is It several times and I must say, exclusively as a male, it gets me hard....but never mind. My favorite tracks on this album are Can't You See, No One Else, Whose Is It? (interlude), Kissin' You, and When Boy Meets Girl. Guys listen to this album with these fantastic women!

I remember this album when I was in the 3rd grade. This album was bumpin' in the streets. When you listen to this album, you cannot help but feel the attitude within Total. This album is defined as soulfulhiphopghettofunk. Their attitude and music are a combination of all their life experiences- both the good ones and the bad ones. The album is mostly a mid-tempo vibe, the chemistry between Total can be felt in each note they deliver. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 1996.
