About the Author

Arthur Bochner wrote The Totally Awesome Money Book for Kids with his mother when he was 11 years old and The Totally Awesome Business Book for Kids when he was 13. He's now 24 and a political speechwriter in Washington, D.C. Rose Bochner, Arthur's 15-year-old sister, was nominated for the Distinguished Students Award at her New Jersey middle school. She's a rock climber and plans to teach. Adriane G. Berg, mother of Arthur and Rose, is a renowned speaker and leader in the field of finance and aging. She is the author of a dozen books on personal finance and lives with husband Stuart Bochner and Rose in New Jersey.

While there are some exceptions, such as entertainment, modeling and working for parents in the home, in most cases children cannot legally work until age 14 (per US Child Labor Laws). With the changes in technology, such as the internet (selling on eBay for example), many children are discovering they can earn money at a young age by going into business for themselves. After all, the child labor laws apply to the employers. Nothing is mentioned about children working in their own business!

If you have a young entrepreneur in your house or you just want to inspire your child to earn some money to pay for their own cell phone, this book will give some unique ideas.

The book describes the different types of businesses (sole proprietorship, partnership, etc.), then discusses skills such as budgeting, advertising, and human relations and closes with numerous business ventures kids can start right now. Kids will appreciate the "steps to success' list included with each business idea as well as the cartoon drawings which make the book an entertaining read.

This book has useful information for any child thinking about beginning a business. Since the tips and skills taught can apply to any type of business, this book can also serve as a "double check" for kids already in business for themselves. They will be sure to find some new concept, which is why I chose to title this review, "I never thought of that..."

This is a great book, lots of great ideas for businesses that your child/teen can do. The majority of the ideas seemed to have to do with 'going green', which is great! It's written clearly and in a fun way that makes the reading go by fast. Well worth purchasing! You will get your money back in all the great ideas.

The book:

The New Totally Awesome Business Book for Kids is not the best book for business I have read in my whole life these ARE JUST SOME of my concerns

.it was boring

. the business plans were to confusing

.the book was confusing

.the writers talked toooo much about thenselves

.it WAS NOT for kids at ALL !

the book it self was OK the section about different business skills like filing and record keeping were very helpful and I liked them very much I did feel that they should have added ALOT more about advertising and the book could have been more for kids and less for adults.The business plans on the other hand were very pathic they were a once in a while thing like babbysitting your younger cousins for 20 dollars they were not business plans they were get money plans the writers said that they were ''KID-PROOF'' more like fun proof, out of ALL 20 business plans not one trigered my '' hey that looks like fun or I would like to try that ''

thought the only business plan I even bothered reading was the one about lemonade they didn't even give a business plan form to create your own business plans!THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR KIDS, BORING , CONFUSING AND ONLY HAD A FEW HELPFUL CHARASTISTICS.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TAKE IT FROM A KID
