Nice but the sticker is a BIG problem,

This is a nice looking tray, well made, etc. But it comes with a HUGE sticker stuck right in the middle of the tray, announcing all of the great things about bamboo products, etc. This sticker cannot be peeled off the tray without use of some kind of solvent to dissolve the adhesive. WHY they would put a giant, permanent sticker on top of a wood tray, I have no idea. So I spent at least an hour removing the sticker. I finally had to use "Goof Off" on it, which is a household chemical for removing paint, ink, adhesives, etc. from places where they're not supposed to be.
The tray does have some kind of varnish applied to it; it's not unfinished bamboo. And the "Goof Off" dulled that finish just a bit, though I'm probably the only one who would notice it. The varnish itself also has an odor to it, which will probably go away with time. Anyway the ordeal of removing this sticker was a real turn-off for me and I would not buy the tray again for this reason.

Great but don't get any syrup on it,

This tray is durable, attractive and easy to clean. The only thing I haven't been able to clean off it is dried syrup. Yes, dried syrup is hard to get off of anything- but I found it to be just IMPOSSIBLE to get off of bamboo without scratching or damaging it. Now I use a bit of wax paper over the surface of the tray any time pancakes with syrup is being served.

Problem Solved,
This review is from: Totally Bamboo Butler's Tray (Kitchen)
Since I planned to use this tray for arts and crafts work, I didn't care about the complaints that it comes with a big sticker that is hard to remove. But when it arrived, I found the big sticker was lightly fastened with a small amount of sticky stuff that peeled off easily and completely. So it seems the manufacturer has learned from the earlier complaints. Nice size, sits very flat (not warped as my old tray had become) and light weight. Very functional and attractive.

We got two of these for Christmas. They are sturdy, and big enough but not too big.
I dealt with the stickers without much trouble, and the trays are large enough to use placemats so we don't usually get too much spillage on the tray itself. |
