when this cutting board arrived i took it out of its box, placed it over my stove top, laid my head on it and laughed from sheer joy.

it covers the top of my stove exactly. the wood is beautiful and warm.

i got mine late november early december, and i use if everyday at least once, and it still looks new. it is easy to clean, even if i left cut tomatoe and avocado or something, the stains wipe right off.

p.s. i only use mine to cut fruit and veggies....we are vegetarian.

I bought this for a friend of mine as a wedding gift. They had a small, worthless cutting board on their registry, so I decided to buy them a legitimate piece of kitchen equipment. While I have not personally used the cutting board, I had what you might call "gifters remorse" upon wrapping it up for my pal. I had the urge to keep it and buy them the crappy one they asked for. The thing is just massive.

If you've spent any time in the kitchen, you are well aware of the numerous benefits of a large, heavy cutting board (and a good knife). Small, flimsy cutting boards slide around, warp, things fall off the side, they jump when you really pound them, spilling juices and such all over the place....Not so with cutting boards of this size and weight. Whether you're cracking lobsters, chopping onions, or deboning chickens, a sturdy cutting board such as this will make your life in the kitchen infinitely easier. I should know, I'm a classically trained french chef. Anyway, spend the cash and get yourself a real cutting board. Just make sure you measure your countertops first.

I sent for this cutting board after reading the description and the reviews. This is my third bamboo board (other two small in comparison but still quite good) and I will never own any other kind. This one is a good size so be sure your kitchen will provide the space; but it is worth every penny. Bamboo is much less likely to stain and scratch. Best thing about it? I'll never have to buy another!

This is a well crafted and very attractive cutting board. It arrived in perfect condition, and we let it soak overnight with a liberal covering of mineral oil which you can get from any pharmacy or department store (oddly enough) in the laxative section. The minearal oil (food grade) will help keep the wood from drying, cracking, and splitting.

This board looks great, but it's HUGE! When we first placed it on our counter (marble slab island), we thought, "what have we bought?". We like the large cutting area, but with the legs, it sits several inches high on the counter. I considered trying to remove the legs to drop it an inch and let it sit flat on the counter, but the legs were very sturdily attached. Rather than mess up this beauty with my hammer, saw, and vice-grips, we decided to see if we get used to the height after a week or two. (Kind of like our first big-screen TV -- it seemed like a monster when we first placed it in the room, but quickly seemed 'normal' size.)

This is a finely crafted board and I recommend it if you have a good-size counter. We've gone through several cheaper boards in the $50 range, and they didn't last. This guy seems like it will be around for a long time.

I have been through a number of cutting boards because I leave it next to my sink and use it constantly. I need a deep one because I am tall and the standard countertop is too low for me resulting in backaches. A couple of very expensive, made-in-Vermont boards have split on me - probably because of moisture. I have had the Big Kahuna for over a year now and it is like new. I have used it daily and it shows no sign of wear. The feet keep it up off the counter so moisture isn't a problem. I highly recommend this cutting board.

Wow! That's all I can say.... it is the BIG KAHUNA! I had no idea this thing was going to be so big or heavy, but it's great. Fortunately we have a large kitchen as we had to make one of the counters a permanent home for it. This is not the kind of cutting board you put away after use, it's a conversation piece for sure.

We really like it, works well and doesn't move on you when cutting. Be sure to purchase some mineral oil and soak it well each night for a week so the oil and really get down into the grain before using it. This will help protect it from cracking with temperature and humidity changes as well as keep food out from the pores of the bamboo when using it.

Checked out many sites and many boards before getting this one. I even called the maker for info. Love this board. It is big, solid, and beautiful.

It is big and so easy to use. Bamboo's tight pores means that it is easy to clean and does not get a lot of bacteria in cuts. Knives love this board. It does need occasional re-oiling to maintain optimum looks and use. You'll probably want lots of counter space, as it is quite heavy and can't be stored really easily. Otherwise, I highly recommend this board.

Bought this along with new knifes for my wife for Christmas. She spent weeks trying to guess what it was. It's big and very heavy; make sure you measure space where you want to use it. I don't know anything about cutting boards other than she wanted bamboo. I read what seemed like hundreds of reviews on Amazon and learned that the heavier the board (thicker) the better the review. My original goal of $30 eventually ended up here...oops...but she was ecstatic and the board looks great sitting on the island.

Make sure you have the space for this great board...it is huge...and is EXACTLY what we hoped for. Solid, attractive, great mass, and the best cutting board we have ever had. Love to cook, and this this is the BOMB if you have the room. Use food grade oil as directed and it seals well. A renewable source like bamboo makes it not only good looking and utilitarian, but also a green alternative for our environment.
