This review is from: The Totally Made-up Civil War Diary of Amanda MacLeish (Hardcover)
This historical fiction book is about a girl in the fifth grade with one homework assignment and some family problems.Struggling with racism, parental separation, and being able to learn to love ones who didn't necessarily tell the truth, Amanda switches perspectives between a girl growing up in the civil war times and a modern city girl(Amanda) living a normal life. But changes happen and Amanda's family falls apart in just one monoply game. Will life ever be the same?I enjoyed this book but it was just the same old same old, with a slight twist. to tell the truth, it didn't really stand out to me. |
