5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping Communication Lines Open....
My soon to be 13 year old daughter really enjoyed this book, particularly the quizzes and the sections on parents, friends, boys, etc... simply the whole book! The book has sparked many interesting and healthy discussions between us. It would have been great to have had a resource like this when I was her age.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best choice...
After reading reviews about this, I thought this book was going to be very good. But after getting it home, I learned it had nothing in it I actually didn't know. It seems like something a 9 year old would read. It had totally corny stories to support things and anything in the book could have been told to me in a more mature way in any of the magazines(...). 5.0 out of 5 stars The Teenage Girl's Survival Guide: A Must Read, October 28, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Totally Me: The Teenage Girl's Survival Guide (Paperback)
Yvonne Collins & Sandy Rideout
Totally Me

The book was basically a teenage girl's survival guide, because it provides you with a variety of different sections on life as a teenage girl. It has sections on boys, and how to deal with them, how to flirt, how to deal with your best friend when she's having problems, and how to deal with your own problems. Teenagers have a lot of stress and things to go through, and this book shows you that even though you may think something is the end of the world right now, it may not be. Sometimes you need to take a step back from your situation, and look at it from someone else's point of view. If that doesn't help, call up the girl's and throw a slumber party, to get your mind off of whatever you're worrying about.
I think that mostly teenage girls everywhere would enjoy this book, because there are so many things you can relate to. There are quizzes for you to take to see if the guy you like likes you, to see if you've been a great friend, to test your flirting IQ, and to see if you know when to ask your parents for something and have the highest result of them actually giving it to you. It has a lot of humor that makes you laugh out loud. I know that when I was reading it, there wasn't ever a time I wasn't hysterical.
I would definitely recommend this book to every single teenage girl. It's got so much helpful information, and it reminds you that life's curveballs are what makes life interesting. It keeps you thinking not to sweat the small stuff, and to actually get up the courage to talk to the guy of your dreams. It was really an all around great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally ... someone who knows us!!!, February 20, 2001

Sometimes I don't feel like talking to my parents (yuk) what do they know! My friends don't have all the answers - they just talk a lot. This is a great book and it really helped me out. It had lots of good tips, advice and is kind of funny. I think I'll read it again because there is lots to learn. Every girl should read it - the guys just wouldn't understand.

This book was great I havent finished it yet but I love it! I hope the authors decide to write another book. At first I wasnt sure if I wanted to get the book but as I flipped through it I thought it looked good so I got! I think I made a good decision and I think that all girls that are turning 12 or 13 or 14 or hoigher should get the book because we have alot of questions to embarrassing to say out loud and this book answered all of them! Guys wouldnt understand this book though but girls 12 and up would so I think you should get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun book that helps, February 18, 2001
This review is from: Totally Me: The Teenage Girl's Survival Guide (Paperback)
I just finished reading this book and I think it has great advice for girls who have a lot of questions on their minds (like me). It was funny and the quizzes were great. It has good advice and it helped me figure lots of stuff out. Especially the section on boys! It's good when a book like this lets you know you're not alone. If you are having trouble getting along with your parents or guys, this book can really help. I'd definately tell my friends to read this!

2.0 out of 5 stars okay, but not the best., May 11, 2005
This review is from: Totally Me: The Teenage Girl's Survival Guide (Paperback)
After reading it, I didn't feel that I really related to it..it focused to much on the typical girl teen-and most girls arn't typical by someone else's standards. These kinds of books are supposed to encourage being yourself- but the vibe i got from this book was rather the opposite.

I baught this book thinking that it would be appopriate due to the fact that im just entering my teenage years. BIG mistake! No offense to the authors, but I thought that this was very poorly written, and I did not relate to anything that they mentioned about teens. This book, in my opinion was not good.
