This is an excellent cookbook! After buying it on impulse at a book fair, I found I couldn't wait to start baking after flipping through some of the recipes. 3.0 out of 5 stars A cute LITTLE book!
I got this as a companion gift with some muffin top pans for my Mom for Christams. I was a little surprised at how small the book was when it came in. Mom says that there are a few recipies that she is considering doing. The best way to describe the size of the book is that it is a little bit bigger around than a giant muffin! I did flip through it a little before...

This is an excellent cookbook! After buying it on impulse at a book fair, I found I couldn't wait to start baking after flipping through some of the recipes. The book is divided into several sections, such as Classic Muffins and Party Muffins. I made 4 different recipes in one night. The Blueberry Buttermilk Muffins were light and delicious and the Caramel Apple Muffins were a big hit with my collegues at work. I also made the recipe for the Chocolate Sour Cherry Muffins with out the cherries and they were still delicious as were the Raspberry Cheesecake Muffins. As the book states, many of these muffins could substitute as cupcakes at children's parties or in lunch boxes. For the inexpensive ... price, I think this book is a must-have for all muffin lovers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Your "baby" muffin book, April 25, 2007

My initial thought in purchasing this literally tiny book was that it would be "nice" to have a little reference guide, of sorts. You know, nothing as grand as my "real" baking books, baking snob that I am. I was very wrong, much to my delight!

As they say, never just a book by it's cover or a dogs bite by its bark and so it goes for this little marvel of a muffin book as well. It has some of the best muffin creations that I've tasted and I have only just gotten started.

The book itself is about 5 x 5-1/2 inches in size, thin, and as light as the muffin recipes contained within. There are no photo's, no heavy or glossy pictures, or anything remarkable except for the 12 grand recipes that will fill your insides with some of the sweetest delectables you ever made in a paper liner. Helen Siegel and Karen Gillingham have written a wonderful ode to the muffin, which can be our salvation on any crazy or lazy morning. The book starts with an introduction on the "muffin" and the muffin person, along with some encouragement to get started. Then you get an interesting "baking soda vs baking powder" education which for the average baker, is a mini-chemitry course; a conversion table comes next, and then the fun begins:

Blueberry Buttermilk Muffins
Banana Walnut Muffins
Pumpkin Currant Muffins
Applesacue Spice Muffins
Strawberry Streusel Muffins
Basic Corn Muffins
Refrigerator Bran Muffins
Carrot Raisin Muffins
Almond Poppy Seed Muffins
Apricot Sourdough Muffins
Date Nut Muffins
Butter-Dipped Pear Muffins

I made the Blueberry Buttermilk Muffins as they directed but instead of the pan for 12 regular size muffins, I used the king-sized muffin pan and made 6. They came out the size of your head and were absolutely superb; the buttermilk made all the difference. As an extra note, for those on a gluten-free diet, "substitute" flours work well also.

As an extra thought about this book, I decided to order more of theses powerful little teachers of taste, and make a "muffin gift basket" that has this wonderful little book tucked inside. I have family and friends that are hard to buy for, and who really don't need anything, but a festive collection of muffin-making items, along with "Totally Muffins Cookbook", all tied up with ribbon and raffia, will be a cherished way of celebrating a special day for them. Thank you so much Helene and Karen!!

I originally purchased this Totally Muffins Cookbook at a little shop while on vacation. All the recipes I have made were delicious and moist. I thought my sisters would love a copy of this cute muffin shaped book. I was glad to see I could order it on Amazon.com so I purchased 3 for Christmas gifts. I plan to wrap them with silicon muffin baking cups and a matching holiday towel.

But very small and very flimsy. I wish that the covers were at least cardboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little cookbook, September 8, 2009

Some of my favorite bread recipes are in this cookbook.
The rosemary orange muffins are one of my all-time favorites. I bought this book years ago and have used it many times. Because of the small size fo the book, I've recently misplaced mine and came here searching to replace it. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys baking.

For those of us who are gluten-sensitive, you can exchange the gluten-free flours (in appropriate proportions) for these flour recommendations and still get an great outcome, with fabulous flavor! I'd recommend Quinoa Flour or pre-mixed Gluten-free flour, if you want to go gluten-free with these recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's whats inside an itty Muffin Book that Counts...., May 11, 2008

Ok I enjoy a good muffin. This book delivers some nice recipes even some new twists. You can go on line and collect a ton of free muffin recipes to make your own little treasured book too. Don't ditch this book by it's cuteness or little size. Not until you've tried at least 3 recipes with in it. Then complain or not...but if you get an itty book and it's not what you wanted your fault it states it's size in advance. Read the fine print! I like the Waffle book and this one but not impressed with the Apple cookbook. For those allergic to cinnamon like myself....substitute the likes or blends of cloves/ginger/allspice/nutmeg and even lemon rind. Or just leave it out and you'll be surprised how much you don't even miss it. Always think outside the box and color outside the lines. Push the authority figures in your life even if you are all grown up now......enjoy your freedom and have that with a hot fresh muffin! (Look for muffins recipes that use less sugar and fat by the way.)

This is a small book, but every page is packed with useful ideas. It may not have 600 recipes like other muffin books, but the one's it does have are all gems. How many different muffins do you need anyway? This should be your first muffin book, and it may be your last muffin book.
