Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

McCullough, a syndicated columnist and author of Bonnie's Household Organizer, here tackles the subject of housework. The key, she writes, is setting priorities, and her strategy is to create a series of home-organization systems that help get routine tasks done quickly and efficiently so that one can go on to other things. She is full of hints for organizing time and thoughts, doing specific tasks efficaciously, creating more space and less clutter, and getting other people to help. Although addressed to housewives, this book is pertinent for househusbands, single parents and the many other people who have more important things to do than clean house all day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Help!, June 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Totally Organized: the Bonnie McCullough Way (Paperback)
I still can't believe how much this book has changed my life. I'm famous as a totally disorganized person who can rarely find what I need, who forgets about events I wanted to go to, and a packrat (a terrible addiction). I've read quite a few other organizing books and been to an expensive seminar on organizing papers. None of them really helped, I just couldn't seem to integrate any of their suggestions. But using this book, in very short time I had made some significant improvements in all these areas, and a few others to boot. A great decrease in stress and confusion! I check it out of the library & keep it as long as they'll let me renew it (6 weeks). Then I take it back, let them check it in & put it on the cart to be reshelved, go and get it, & check it out again. If I ever get enough money, I'm definately going to buy this book,

5.0 out of 5 stars Very practical and full of USABLE information -imagine that!, March 13, 2000
This review is from: Totally Organized: the Bonnie McCullough Way (Paperback)
Books on this subject seem to vary from the highly philosophical and motivational (in sort of an empty way) to those that are so detailed they're difficult to adapt to individual needs. I found this one to have just the right balance for my taste. I already knew WHY I wanted to embark on this project; I didn't want to pick up a book and read 100 pages about why I should pick up the book. On the other hand, I had a few little disconnected tricks stashed here and there but they weren't doing me much good without having my life organized from the ground up. I needed ideas for more of a general system to implement, a way to pull it all together, and this book had it. The suggestions actually make sense --don't take that for granted! I have dog-eared more corners of this book than practically any book I own because there are so many useful ideas to reference. If you truly are disorganized enough to need this book, then you need to OWN this book. Don't borrow it from a friend or the library, because you need to be able to keep coming back to it or you'll eventually abandon all the good intentions you have right now.

next to Flylady's book and her website. This book gives real practical advice, page after page, and I've read a lot of organizing books! It is extremely helpful for mothers with children. If I were to only have one organizing book, this would definitely be it. I highly recommend it.
