Product Description

Sam, Clover and Alex are three Beverly Hills teens with impressive abilities: they are super spies solving crimes on an international scale, all while balancing daily life as high school students!

Top-secret missions are handed out by Jerry and The World Organization Of Human Protection (WHOOP) and the girls are whisked away to fight crime on ski trips, on a trivia TV show, and of course at the mall. The spies solve mysteries and keep the world safe, and they still make time for homework, dating and shopping.

The adventures continue with these utterly fashionable students by day and international secret spies by night!

Debuting in 2001, "Totally Spies!" is a female-centric cartoon series that has carried on for over a decade now. With earlier seasons having aired on both ABC Family and the Cartoon Network and a sixth season finalized in 2012, the series has amassed a huge fan base around the world and launched a video game empire that includes a very popular online role playing game. Until now, though, its DVD presence has been somewhat spotty. They have only released a few 4 episodes DVDs leaving everyone wondering where the rest of the episodes were! Now it seems that fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Season One and Season Two are now on target to get full releases.

Season One released in a two volume set on 8/13/13 and Season Two gets a two volume release on 10/8/13. Instead of labeling the DVDs by Seasons or Parts, however, they instead used a tagline that tells you nothing about what is inside the set that you are considering purchasing. I don't often comment on marketing or packaging, but I'm a firm believer that you should be able to look at a DVD and determine what it is that you are actually buying. Having these DVDs in hand, though, the descriptions give you very little information about content. Not particularly effective if you ask me, but they didn't.

Season Two has a total of 26 episodes which are approximately 22 minutes each. Each of these two volumes, therefore, has 13 episodes for a total running time shy of five hours.

Secret Agents:
This set contains the first 13 episodes of Season Two. The episodes are spread over 2 discs and are (1) Starstruck, (2) I Want My Mummy, (3) Evil Hair Salon, (4) The Yuck Factor, (5) It's How You Play The Game, (6) Her Comes The Sun, (7) Green With N.V.

This was an excellent series about friendship and teamwork couched in spydom. It is a great pity that this was the final season, I hope they revisit and make a new series based on this since there are so few "girl heroes" series out right now.

Get ready to "WOOHP" it up with teen dreams Sam, Clover, and Alex in the second season of "Totally Spies", the hit girl-powered action series as seen on Cartoon Network. Sure, these gals may face some typical social-based problems, but they're nothing compared to the vile villains they encounter. The second volume "Fame and Fashion" has the last 13 season two episodes on two discs such as:

"Stark Raving Mad" - Wild parties are being held in certain, yet unusual places all over Beverly Hills. When our girls go to investigate, it turns out that the emcee for those raves is a familiar villain !
"S.P.I." - A new spy organization is putting WOOHP out of business. Sam becomes suspicious about the new organization, but no one seems to believe her.
"Animal World" - Animals are exhibiting human behaviour, while people are acting like animals. The girls must find the mad scientist behind this scheme or else Clover will be acting like a dog forever !
"Alex Quits" - A new, albeit prettier, spy in training joins the three girls on their next mission, but Alex get a little self-conscious on account of her many foul-ups on their previous missions which prompts her to leave WOOHP altogether.
"Totally Switched" - As if Clover's personality being swapped with a dog's was bad enough, another villain has her switched with Jerry's personality !
"The Elevator" - Clover's date gets cut off when the girls chase a bad guy and wind up stuck in an elevator. While they try to find a way out, the girls start having flashbacks of their many adventures together.
"Matchmaker" - A new dating service has put girls like Alex and Sam with their perfect match. And Clover, who's established a dating hiatus, has a sneaky suspicion about the girls' dates.

Once I’d read the news of a study that found the male mind is more accepting of animation or cartoons. I don’t remember all of the specifics regarding the ‘scientific explanation’ as to why; rather, I can only recall the person interviewed clearly saying that men and/or boys were drawn (pun intended) to that particular form of storytelling. Watching only a few episodes of TOTALLY SPIES!, I’m not so sure that the male mind was what these showrunners had in mind, though I suppose the light action and/or spy elements might create a passing fancy. But as for all of the fashion, make-up, and accessory references? Meh. I guess not.

(NOTE: The following review will contain minor spoilers necessary solely for the discussion of plot and characters. If you’re the kind of reader who prefers a review entirely spoiler-free, then I’d encourage you to skip down to the last three paragraphs for my final assessment. If, however, you’re accepting of a few modest hints at ‘things to come,’ then read on …)

Sam, Clover, and Alex are three kinda/sorta Valley Girls of the Beverly Hills variety; but they also happen to be teenage spies for the World Organization of Human Protection (WOOHP). As anyone will tell you, girls just wanna have fun … but these three can be downright deadly when they’re up against some nefarious ne’er-do-wells who happen to interrupt their social lives.

TOTALLY SPIES! would appear to be “da bomb” for ten-to-twelve year old girls. Certainly, some of the humor tends to gravitate toward puns and/or wordplay of a variety that only the young (or maybe the young-at-heart) would find truly funny. (I’d imagine my eight-year-old niece would get most of the jokes, but she’d probably be lost on all of the shopping references.) As for this old dog?
