If you enjoy Native American music, you should purchase this new album, which was the 2008 Grammy Award Winner for Best Native American Music Album. The CD consists of twelve original compositions, each devoted to a different totem animal that also serves as inspiration for the music. The compositions are unique and well-crafted, using Native American flutes, drums, and other instruments. The performances interpret animal spirits that have the power to transform human lives, and are atmospheric and invoke a sense of mystery. Although modern compositions, the pieces sound ancient and authentic, since they make use of a limited array of Native American flutes, percussion, and limited vocals. Only a keyboard and guitar are modern, and they are used primarily for background and rhythm and do not dominate. You will enjoy listening to this album which I highly recommend.

When I first began listening to this I enjoyed it, but it didn't carry great weight for me. That changed as I listened to it more. Simply put, listening to this music opens pathways in my body and a deep yearning/connectedness in my spirit. It's worth paying attention to and offering up some time for.

I loved this cd. Very soothing and relaxing. Just close your eyes and picture the animals.

This is an absolutely awesome album, particularly if you are becoming aware of power animals around you. When I got this out, I lit some sweetgrass incense, darkened the room, and played with both the bookshelf speakers and headphones. The energy goes right up your spine. With each track, I could sense the animal totem in the room, without knowing the name of the track.
