3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, April 8, 2001

I was really looking forward to reading this book, having already read the first two and it was a huge let down. The story seemed to drag out and I couldn't really get involved in the story line at all. The first book about Tillie and Graham was much better and was the best book of the whole series. I would still read Catherine Palmer books but, this is one that I would not read again. I would LOVE to read a book about Fiona Thornton though. I want to hear her story. Why she hides herself away etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Touch of Betrayal, March 23, 2001

This was the first Catherine Palmer book I read and I loved it. It is a wonderful story full of adventure and romance. I found myself not wanting to put it down. Ms. Palmer brings the characters to life and you find yourself feeling a part of their world. The message of Christ is developed through the faith of the characters and the story shows how important a witness through example in all aspects of life can bring others to "surrender". If you like suspence, adventure, romance and an element of surprise - I highly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Part thriller, part romance...in Africa, February 24, 2012
This was a cute story, but it also had elements of a thriller. Fashion and fabric designer Alexandra takes a vacation at the urging of her broker. While in Africa, she's attacked by a fellow American who intendeds to kill her. The story takes on a mystery element as she tries to figure out why he's after her. She seeks shelter with another American whom she met randomly at the airport on the day she arrived.

Some readers will find Alexandra endearing. Others will find her a bit naive. But this story does a good job of blending sweet with suspense. I did find the book a bit predictable. Everything ended up pretty much the way I expected it to.

The book is about more than just mystery or romance, It was about journeys. Alexandra is on a personal journey as she dreams about starting her own fashion design company. It's also about her coming to terms with her wealth and the possibility of losing it. As she seeks, she has to think about what really matters. Grant, her American rescuer is also on a journey. He's been an anthropologist in Africa for so long, but his African friends are telling him it's time to settle down and find a wife. He's wrestling with his reliance upon science with what he's been taught about God.

It's a quick read with a pretty simple plot line.
