About the Author

Lois Jovanovic-Peterson, MD, is director and chief scientific officer of the Sansum Medical Research Institute. She is the author or co-author 24 books on diabetes. Charles M. Peterson, MD, is program director, Blood Diseases Program in the Division of Blood Diseases and Blood Resources of the National Heart Lung Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. He is the author or co-author of more than 20 books on diabetes. Morton B. Stone was the founder and editorial director of Diabetes in the News and has written many educational booklets for people with diabetes. Just after turning 50, I had a sudden, unexplained weight loss that turned out to be Type II diabetes.

This book is one of the best I've read as an initial overview of the disease and how to cope with it. Its clear and concise, providing adequate--but not too much--information in plain language.

If you've recently been diagnosed with diabetes, I strongly recommend this book as a beginning point in your education. Its 10 bucks well spent!
