5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific First Book for parents and baby!
The touch and feel books by DK are terrific. The photographs are large and wonderful and the items to feel are an excellent tool for your youngster. These books are fine for very young babies as well as toddlers. Your child will learn the name of each animal as well as the sound the animal makes. The first coherent sound my son made was "Moo". 3.0 out of 5 stars like it!
I bought this book when my daughter was 8 months. Content wise, I love it. It is cute, introduces farm animals and different textures and held my daughter's attention at that age and when she got a little older. Quality wise, I was disappointed. Not very sturdy, a rather thin board book and it got very shabby very fast. I'd buy it again although NOT for $7.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific First Book for parents and baby!, September 3, 2000
This review is from: Touch and Feel: Farm (Board book)
The touch and feel books by DK are terrific. The photographs are large and wonderful and the items to feel are an excellent tool for your youngster. These books are fine for very young babies as well as toddlers. Your child will learn the name of each animal as well as the sound the animal makes. The first coherent sound my son made was "Moo". These books are perfectly sized for you and your baby to read. Moreover, your child can even read to him/herself as the board book pages are thick enough for a young child to turn. I recommend all of the DK books. As your child grows, the series grows also. These books also make a wonderful birthday or holiday gift. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than any other touch and feel book I've found, February 24, 2000

We have 4 books in this great series, and I am really impressed with their quality. They don't have tiny patches of semi-touchable fabric, they have BIG areas of very soft (or rough, or leathery, or whatever) feelable material. The chick in this one is all covered with a really chick-like soft yellow fuzz, the sheep is covered with real feeling woolly material, and so on. Fun for babies and ages on up to adult!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first book for babies, September 19, 1999

All of the touch and feel books make great books for babies, even as young as 3 or 4 months. The pictures are attractive to infants. My son loves the different textures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely caught and held the attention of our 4 month old!, April 11, 1999

Big, bright interesting photos of chicks & chickens, colts & horses, puppies & dogs, etc. with nicely attached textures representative of the animal's coat for baby to feel. Our daughter looks at the pictures longer than most books, opens her hand that has been placed on the wool, etc., to get a better touch with her fingertips. Very effective and baby friendly fun tool for 3-way visual, tactile, verbal association-building.

My daughter has loved this book since she received it for her one-year birthday. We can't read it to her enough. She loves to pet the animals over and over again! I'm glad to learn there are more in this series!

I have a 17 month old and a 3 year old and they both like this book. I use it with my 3 year old to help with his sensory issues, and I use it with my 17 month old to help expand her vocabulary. Recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for special needs children with a tactile need!, November 21, 1999

This review is from: Touch and Feel: Farm (Board book)
My 6 year old son is developmentally disabled. He loves to look at bright pictures and feel different textures. This book is great for both. Although he is six we usually resort to tactile toys intended for infants. How refreshing to find a book that suits his needs and doesn't look babyish! The other books in this series are great as well. Zoo animals, Dogs, and Cats.

My six month old daughter starts to giggle and shake when I pull this book out. She loves this book. I read it to her and let her feel all the animals. Everytime I turn the page she squeals with excitement. I love that it is a board book, too. She can hold it and gum it like babies do with EVERYTHING and it is not ruined. This is a real fun book to read to babies. There are never too young. This one is perfect because she can see the pictures and feel all the fur.

My daughter consistently brings this book to me to read with her. She loves running her fingers over the "animals" and we make the animal sounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Restaurant Favorite, August 3, 2006
This review is from: Touch and Feel: Farm (Board book)
Whenever we go out to eat, we are sure to take this book along. It keeps my little boy (11 months) entertained while we wait for our food, and works like a charm. There is nothing better when he is screaming his head off than to pull out this book and presto, instant smile. He touches and feels and tries so hard to say baa at the sheep at bark at the dog. It is well worth the money. And so far it has held up remarkably well (even though there is rice in the dogs fur and cheese on the lambs wool).
