Book Description

Lacey Adams lives in the small town of Magic, New Mexico, where she devotes herself to the animals at her Touch of Magic Animal Shelter. The strange assortment of animals helps heal the pain and loneliness inside her since the death of her husband three years before.
Frost is a Star Ranger. He travels the star systems, bringing intergalactic fugitives to justice. When a maximum-security fugitive escapes from the mining prison, he is sent after him. Only this time, the fugitive has violated a major law… he has traveled to a distant forbidden planet inhabited by a race that has not mastered space travel yet.
Now, he is in a race to find the fugitive before those on the planet known as Earth discover there are not one, but two aliens on their world. Things become complicated when Frost discovers his heart is not as frozen as he thought when a young human female is taken hostage by the fugitive. What he doesn’t anticipate is her unexpected resistance – both to the fugitive and to him.
Frost is forced to make a decision that is guaranteed to put him on the most wanted list when he follows his heart and kidnaps Lacey. He knows that some things are worth the risk. What he doesn’t know is that Lacey has a few secrets of her own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sparkling Spectacular Read!!!! August 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Yet another SPETACULAR book by SE Smith!

I picked this up late last night and started reading it as soon as I heard that it had hit Amazon.com. I even woke up late last night with the kindle hitting me in the face because I just did NOT want to put it down. From start to finish, this adventure captures the imagination!!!

It's a different twist for SE Smith's books and one I truly hope she continues! Each of the characters are wonderful and unique!! From Topper, the cooky but funny lady with the purple hair!!! Frost is such a loveable and confused man that does everything he can to protect his woman. Lacey is someone we can all relate to as she struggles with her past and tries to run a non-profit shelter... even "little bit" the adorable puppy!!!

I'm not going to say more because I don't want to ruin the story for everyone! What I will say though? You will NOT be disappointed by this read, well until you reach the end and realize that the story is over and you're whining for the next one!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical August 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another solid five. This is a book about a small town in New Mexico full of magical people. An escaped psychopath Alien lands and starts on a killing spree until he meets up with Lacey who is perfectly capable of putting a stop to the killing. Frost, a star ranger, is in pursuit and gets to Lacey's house in time to be astonished as to what is going on. This book is a delightful mixture of magic, craziness mixed in with a mad scientist and talking animals. It is wonderfully imaginative with an interesting solid story line. I couldn't put it down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aliens vs Paranormal August 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A happy day is the day SE Smith releases a new story. I am never disappointed reading her books and overall, her books generaly get a five star rating. As much as I enjoyed this latest release, it is true that a certain spark was missing. With a Touch of Frost, we get a truly unique story that ultimately comes down to Aliens vs. Paranormal. I never would have dreamed up such a universe but there you have it. I devoured the book in one sitting, but at the end, I have to admit that the characters were not flushed out and developed as well as her other stories. We have a little back story on some of the people, but not enough for you to feel invested in their well being.

Frost is an intergalactic law enforcer who must track down a truly evil alien creature, Taar, who has escaped to the primitive world called Earth. His mission this go around is to kill Taar and return with the inhabitants of the planet none the wiser, but when Frost tracks Taar down in a place called Magic, New Mexico, both Taar and Frost are in for a total shock when they meet a beautiful young woman named Lacey. Magic, is a place where there's, well, magic. Witches, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, trolls, shapeshifters and every other creature call Magic home and it's a place where the unique and special can be left alone. So when the showdown of Alien vs Paranormal come to a head, Aliens have got nothing on these creatures!

One thing that was special about the book is that you have no idea where it's going. There are so many twists and turns, with danger around every corner you have no clue where the story is going to take you. When you think the danger is over, more comes at you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner! August 10, 2014
By Ann
Format:Kindle Edition
Again S.E. Smith has created a new story and hopefully more for Magic, NM! No spoilers from me! As usual her heroines are no shrinking violets as they do what needs to be done to get the job done in whatever capacity that may be! Loved all the characters and have some favorites - its a toss up between Toppy and the twins! As with all Smith's books, I have another keeper for future re-reading!

2.0 out of 5 stars nope August 23, 2014
By Frances
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So, no I did not enjoy this book. I love a good alien scifi but not this one. S.E. Smith is usually a hit or miss for me and this was a definite miss. And unfortunately I could not write a review without spoilers. I usually hide them and only try to write a sentence or two, but there were just too many problems in this book for me that I felt needed to be addressed.

First problem, going in I knew from some of the reviews that the book was not only about an alien, but everything else was too much, like werewolves, dragons, witches, ghosts, trolls, etc. there was too much magic and nothing was too difficult that some magic couldn't fix. This is an example that reveals some of the story (view spoiler).
Secondly, insta love. I am not a big fan of insta love, but I tend to overlook that with paranormal books. It doesn't seem so far fetched with the paranormal thing going on and feel that the author can usually weave it into the story not just state it bluntly. It makes the story feel choppy to me. Like, "I am alien and you are human and I know you are crying right now over your dead husband, but since I am your "true" mate and we are in a bed let's get down and do the monster mash." Huh?
And finally, everything takes place on earth! I don't know if its just me, but when I read an alien scifi I expect at lease half of it to take place either in outer space, like a space ship or something or on a different planet. They could have possibly done that in the end, but I stopped reading around 80%.
Loved the cover and the sexy scenes were pretty steamy, but I was so frustrated with everything else going on that I didn't really enjoy them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Both a pat and a yuck.
Huge potential here . . . but it isn't quite up to the mark. Explicit sex is completely and totally unnecessary, overdone and rates a "yuck". Read more
