The Independent

"If he’s (David Jason) in it, we’ll watch it."

Product Description

A Touch of Frost is one of Britain’s most successful detective series and stars award-winning actor David Jason as Detective Inspector Jack Frost, a policeman with a knack for attracting trouble. Set in the dreary town of Denton, Frost approaches each case with his characteristic dry wit and a sense of moral justice. A Touch of Frost Season 2 includes:

"A Minority of One" – Frost and a black detective constable investigate residents at the Eastdean Estates housing project, where young, black men have been accused of a string of commercial burglaries. Frost feels responsible when an informant is murdered. The informant’s child is kidnapped and Frost embarks on a one-man rescue mission.

"Widows and Orphans" – Frost is reluctant to investigate a rash of break-ins at the homes of elderly citizens due to lack of evidence until an elderly woman is found badly beaten. A new female partner dispenses free advice on Jack’s love life and he asks Shirley Fisher to dinner.

"Nothing to Hide" – Frost gets a new partner whose attitude problem stems from a recent demotion. Is a drug addict’s death accidental – or is it murder? Frost deals with personal issues involving an old flame.

"Stranger in the House" – A serial rapist is on the loose in Denton. A teenaged girl is missing and Frost fears she may be the next victim. The investigation becomes jeopardized when Frost finds a possible connection with the victim’s father. Under pressure to remove himself from the case, he uses WPC Hazel Wallace to bait the rapist, placing her in grave danger.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Life British Detective Series, June 2, 2004

This review is from: A Touch of Frost - Season 2 (DVD)
Frost is an unpolished Morse, with (alas) an even skimpier social
life. The stories are excellent-suspenseful,involving real life
people. The crime is serious, but not quite so "grimy" as in
the excellent Prime Suspect series. In each case,Frost has a
new partner, who is an integral part of the story. He is heroic
(winning the George Cross), has empathy for many of the
victims, and is lucky. The acting, photography, and introductory
music are excellent. Each of the 4 stories is 100 minutes in

length.I will be buying the next series due in July.Enjoy
this one.

First.... Amazon's service just seems to get better and better with age. Thanks Amazon.

Frost: Used to watch Frost on the Tele. Being able to get all of the seasons through Amazon is dynamite. DCI Frost manages to keep about 5 balls in the air every episode, so you better pay attention at the start. Good acting, good plots, good camera work. Perhaps some of the "cops and robbers" producers in the U.S. should take a lesson.... cut the fluff and the computer generated geewhiz stuff and get back to real life - like Frost. However, I just cannot stand Hornrim Harry... never have, never will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly witty and intelligent, November 15, 2007
By
This review is from: A Touch of Frost - Season 2 (DVD)
DCI Frost is the most lovable character you can possibly have. Careless about his personal life, disorganized in his methods, disobedient to authority. But there's another side to this man. That side shows up when his friend George is injured in this episode. His meticulous attention to detail where a case is involved has many around him wondering how he does it so effortlessly. When I had first started watching this series, I found myself occasionally nodding off due to the slow pace of everything... the title music, the scenes, the dialogue... everything is unhurried and relaxed. It is only after I had watched 2-3 episodes that I began appreciating this series- it grows on you.
