1.0 out of 5 stars A disservice to the series
I own and have enjoyed Seasons 1-3, but Season 4 represents a sharp downturn in the quality of writing. The dialogue was terrible in the first episode - the characters seemed to always be either shouting or sulking, often both within the same scene.

The second episode had improved dialogue, but the plot made no sense, and had very little suspense. The...

lucky,and emphathetic with victims.Each episode is 100 minutes,and
takes 5 weeks to produce (an attractive bonus feature is an interview with David Jason). There is good character development
of each of the principles, and for each episode Frost has a different partner (this is deliberate). The acting, photography
and music are excellent.Small comic elements present a contrast
to the main story line.Eventually, there may be 10 sets in this
series, and I intend to get all of them.Series 4 is one of the
best, because of the interview, and stories such as the first
(kidnapped sister).

The mystery is basically solved when a minor character simply confesses his involvement, and the bad guy (who's been onscreen for less than a minute by now), confesses as well. I don't have the heart to watch the remaining episodes for a while - barring a massive improvement in the writing, the Frost series ends at Season 3 for me.

With each succeeding season of A Touch of Frost I watch, I become more eager to view the next. I didn't think I could like another detective as much as the incomparable Morse, but Jack Frost runs a close second. Frost is an unorthodox detective, though not in the same manner as Morse, and his personal life is just as muddled. However, in Jack's case, detection is his higher priority. Bring on season 5!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Touch of Frost-Season 4, June 5, 2010

A Touch of Frost is as interesting and well written as Inspector Morse, Midsomer Murders, Inspector Lewis and Foyle's War. David Jason is a very talented actor and very believable in the part of Inspector Frost . His interaction with the other characters gives you an intimate feeling as if you are part of the story. The writing is far superior to many other detective stories. I have many more British detective stories on DVD but the four above are my favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A VERY GOOD SEASON OF MOVIES, November 25, 2009

This season of movies is for a "die hard" David Jason viewer.
As a EXTRA promotional section of Frost four this adds to the drama.
here is a 1 section movie with audio of David Jason and the person interviewing him
Jason gives much insight to the series and how it was purposed to be brought about
the movies are good acting and good writing

Don't be afraid to buy them
I have series one thru series fourteen and enjoy them about every other week!
I have all of Inspector Morse and Inspector Lynley and Inspector Lewis
so use one series a week
I never tire of the dramas
chfancier"fancier of fine movies"

I have been 'collecting' many of the Frost series lately. I now have 8 of the 15 Seasons. Season 4, this purchase, is an excellent addition to my DVD's of A Touch of Frost, with David Jason. These are outstanding British Detective stories, and Season 4 is no exception. If you're a Fan of British drama, mysteries, or period pieces, I would add this to my British Detective collection. Compared to Retail Outlets, the prices on Amazon are half or less. Another great sales point.

Frost is a great detective series, more realistic than most and not excessive in the bloody details. Frost is a very believable character and David Jason really brings him to life. The other characters are well played and make the shows a very enjoyable watch.
