I’m so excited, I can’t stop talking about it. I count down the days. Annoy the hell out of the author trying to wring some kind of a hint of the ending out of them. I eagerly pre-order then watch my mail box, wondering why I didn’t just buy the stupid Amazon Prime account so I could get the book the day of release, instead of 3-4 days after…(happens every time!) Then, with out warning, there upon my doorstep is a copy. Shiny and new and suddenly I want nothing to do with it because I know that once I start I have to finish, and once I finish, that’s the end. It’s over.
Oh my GAWD it’s over…*sobs*…
I flew through this book.
I literally couldn't get to the next page fast enough. I needed to know, I had to find out what was coming. What was next. What horrendous torture would I suffer at the hands of the author? And torture you she will. In fact, if you are invested in this series, I wouldn't suggest reading this on a day you are already emotionally compromised. Clifford kicks the dark, the twisted and the body count up a notch (or ten). Unafraid to drive the knife deep into your heart and twist. No one is safe!
With breathtaking, detailed, and in some cases bone chilling settings. Dialogue I can not get out of my head (Luke has some of the best lines in this book!) and the heaviness carried by Eden and the choices she needs to make, A TOUCH MENACING has everything a good finale should. Pain, sorrow, indecision, panic, fear, humor and laughter.
If you’ve not read the A TOUCH TRILOGY yet, I beg you to pick up a copy. Travel into the dark world created by Leah Clifford with her “fowl mouthed celestial posse” (took that last line from her Twitter bio! *wink*) And experience an angel book, that’s not really an angel book.
Despite the seriousness of the situation A Touch Menacing grants beautifully written bursts of happiness, hope, love, and clever comedy.
Like the previous book the sexual tension, witty banter, and sarcasm is perfectly executed. The sparks between Luke and Kristen are enough to tantalize your senses and keep you rooting for a happy ending in a love that seems destined for utter devastation.
Madeline. Throughout this series Madeline has been elusive. The noted evil girl of the bunch who can't be trusted and who will likely betray the Siders if it's beneficial to her. Finally we get a glimpse into what makes Maddy tick and is she ever complicated!
She's got that je ne sais quoi that's easy to adore.
The plot was brilliant, filled with twists and surprises. <3
Az and Eden are annoyingly devoid of sexuality or even chemistry. It seems like every other couple, no matter the circumstance, is better suited.
As the finale to this awesome series the ending was...deeply unsatisfying. Normally the conclusion to a series ends in a pretty predictable way. This was in no way predictable and certainly was not a tale of happily ever after. Despite the standard angels and demons paranormal romance, A Touch has never been conventional. This bleak, raw ending is on par with Clifford's style.
Honestly, I can't go in to the plot much without giving anything away. What I will say is that I spent most of this book with my fingers and toes and legs crossed - wishing and hoping and praying that my favorite characters (Jarrod) made it out OK in the end. Of course, it wouldn't be Leah Clifford's Touch Series without darkness, death and destruction, and we get it in spades!
A Touch Menacing is the first book of 2013 that I pulled an all-nighter to read. I stayed up until 4 in the morning, flipping the pages all fast and furious like. I just had to know how it was all going to end. Leah Clifford's words have a way of pulling me in and refusing to release me until I have followed their word trail until the very end.
I am so so glad that A Touch Menacing ended in a way that left me completely satisfied with the series conclusion. A Touch Menacing will most likely be making my favorite books of the year list. If you haven't read it yet, you need to grab this series up now and give it a go!
This isn't going to be a real long review cause I don't want to give any spoiler or at least try not to. I love this series and think the author did a fantastic job in ending yet. I still want more but that is just because I love the series and characters. Eden if though she is dying continues to grow. She faces down everything thing Heaven and Hell can throw at her. Both sides want her dead for their own reasons. Several friends have seemed to turn to enemies and you really get an insight on how the whole thing started. This is told not only from Eden's POV but from several others so you can really see what is going on.Some of the characters I found myself liking by the books end and a few I turned the other way and ended up not liking them any more. I would recommend everyone who loves YA paranormal to read this series. It is one you can fall easily in love with. Be sure to read the first two books first so you aren't lost.
