This review is from: Touch the Sound (Audio CD)
Over the years, I have acquired several of Glennie's CD's, yet failed to realize she has a hearing difficulty. Touch has brought her earthyness & understanding of what it's like to be deaf yet not deaf. Imagine a world devoid of sound. Then imagine trying to compensate for that. How do you do that? I totally understand why she choose the title "Touching The Sound." A person with any disability usually compensates for the lack thereof by enhancing the other senses. Thus, color becomes more vivid; taste more sensitive; and touch more communicative (in Glennie's world). And it is that way for anyone who is deaf (partial or total). I appreciate her work and the advances she makes in the world of percussion giving listeners a deeper & more meaningful appreciation for her work. I ought to know because I, too, am deaf. Now, if I could just get her on my radio talk show!

Evelyn Glennie is a miraculous artist. Her music can be enjoyed on many different levels...it soothed and enirched my soul and my senses. After seeing her interviewed on a TV documentary, I was delighted to obtain her CD. She clearly plays with her heart.
I recommend it wholeheartedly. Ruth A. Drayer author of "Numerology, The Power in Numbers" and "Nicholas & Helena Roerich, The Spiritual Journey of Two Great Artists & Peacemakers."
