Don't believe the bad reviews on this site for this cd. I heard a little bit of this cd on The Militia Group's site and decided to give this cd a try. It is actually a really good cd. There are a lot of good songs on this album. This disc is definitely worth picking up.

I ordered the cd and listened to the whole thing in one sitting. I just liked it--every song. It's the kind of music I miss hearing. I spread the love to a friend, who downloaded it on itunes within 24 hours of hearing it. It's just good.

Sarah's Review,

I just recently found out about the band, The Class of '98, and within a few days hopped on Amazon to buy their CD. I basically fell in love with them right off! Their tunes are basic pop/punk--very catchy and upbeat. I particularly like the track "Christy's Wedding." It's definatly one of the best songs on the album. This CD is easy to listen to straight through at one time and fun to sing along with. You'll probably find the songs stuck in your head all day!

This is a great CD to listen to - it's incredibly upbeat and just plain fun. The band has a very full and uptempo sound. It's great for driving, listening to while picking up around the house, and singing along to. I highly recommend it!

honest to goodness emo pop punk,

the first few reviews on here are basically from music snobs who have nothing better to do than seek out every band that's half-ass to their own standards of all-time-classic indie-genre rock and just rail them for not writing the most sincere and anthematic subculture standard of our time. these people need to get a life. but let's be honest here...it is a really good cd. for what it is. the lyrics are basic (not cheesy), the music is catchy. in a previous review, a writer stated that he wanted to drive off the side of the road after hearing one of the songs. the only reason you'd get in a wreck while listening to this cd would be from flailing your arms about and away from the steering wheel and swerving into oncoming traffic because you just had to dance-and-drive.
look at the recent commerical success of emo-punk/powerpop: militia did not make a mistake in signing this band. if you're pissed that this style of music is popular now, then go listen to and/or review sigur ros and sufjan and detest anything that's less than pure poetry. if you ENJOY music (a la jimmy eat world, all american rejects, or relient K), then you can't go wrong with The Class of 98.

AMAZING album FULL to the brim with hooks and catchy sing along melodies! I've bought this album 6 times and have given it away in the name of spreading good music and supporting these guys.

Repetitive, boring and lacking of any real energy/emotion,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Touch This And Die! (Audio CD)
One of the most important aspects of music, in my opinion, is the ammount of energy and emotion a band can convey with their music. When a song is able to pull you by your collar and punch you in the face, you know its good. Sadly, The Class of 98' writes no such song. Similar to songs by daphney loves derby or coldplay, none of these mind-numbingly emotionless ballads would sound out of place on a department store elevator. Thats not a good thing. When you have to fiddle with you fingers or think about something else, you're probably not enjoying what you're listening to. Forgettable? You bet it is. Touch this and die? Don't worry, I'll never pick it up again.

Garbage,

It seems as though the militia group has all but dropped their one saving grace (cartel) to promote and hype utter mtv trash like "ThE ClAsS Of 98 1111111". Words cannot describe how much I dislike this group, but hear me out anyway. I was introduced to TCO98' through a friend who played me "bass guitar" in his car. That song was soooo annoying I almost drove myself off the side of the road. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. None of the songs on this eleven (11) track record are even listenable, let alone enjoyable.
TCO98', along with other bands like hawthorne heights and taking back sunday, only further strengthen the demise of modern independent rock. These bands have no substance what so ever, and an overabundence of fake emo-esque style. Pop-rock, and independent rock in general, used to be exciting. Now it's just a race to see who can outdo the next guy in becoming "the next big thing". Where are the hooks? Where are the clever lyrics? Where's the freaking emotion? No where, thats where. Like I said, I hate this band by default, but there's a reason for my strong conviction. Bands to look into instead: Race the Sun June The Audition Houston calls A day at the fair a thorn for every heart |
