From the Author
"I started writing when I was six years old-a tale about a fox and a rabbit. Then I learned that writing is in my blood: an aunt (who obviously didn't have anything better to do with her money) researched the family history and found out that we're related to the great Charles Dickens-at the 42nd cousin level, no less.
I don't know if it's the "Dickens" influence or not, but I can't imagine a more satisfying career than writing. Not only do I get to create my own world(s) in my novels, but-unlike real life-I can make the people there do and say what I want them to (well, most of the time, anyway).
One of the best things about being a writer is having readers tell me they loved the books and couldn't put them down, that the story took them away from their problems, even for a short time, or that the characters seemed real, people they'd like to know (or not!).
When fans ask me where I get my ideas, I always say that the world is an endlessly fascinating place, and all anyone has to do is take time to look...or read...or dream. That's what I want my books to do: give the reader a place to go where the only limit is...imagination. Because, as I learned long ago with my little story of the fox and the rabbit, reading is the key that opens the door to the eyes, the mind, the soul...and the heart."
