Good track selection... terrible sound quality.,

I've been a fan George Acosta for a long time now, having bought every one of his albums. I do like the track selection and the way he mixes it but I have to say, the sound quality on this album is very poor. There are several times throughout the CD where there is static, hissing, crackling and just plain distortion. I know live DJ sets are straight from vinyl so record static is to be expected, but this goes way beyond that. There was obviously a major breakdown somewhere during the post production of this album. I have a lot ot these types of albums in my music collection and I have never heard one this bad. At times you have to skip to the next track the distortion is so bad. Big ups to George for his mixing of these tracks, but thumbs WAY DOWN for the production of this album. Someone should have caught this major problem before it was mass produced and released to his fans worldwide.

Im an Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, PVD fan and really never thought of buying a CD from George Acosta, but I read somewhere on the internet that it was a pretty good CD. So I held my breath and paid for it. After unwrapping it in my car and started it, I heard Armins mix "Yet Another Day", I thought ok, thank you George for that. Than......after that song, the rest is pure ecstacy, awesome job George, my hat goes off to you and as my respect. Great choice of music and mix, beautifully done. I'm glad I invested my money on this. Thank You George Acosta, and Im happy to say, we're both from Miami where we're starting to appreciate Trance music, FINALLY!

Let me start off by saying that the only reason this album got 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the bad sound quality at different parts of the recording. I don't understand why they didnt take time to correct this (the insert says something about some of the tracks coming from analog and thus being of lower sound quality - I don't really buy that as many many albums contain tracks taken from analog sources and don't produce that kind of hiss - oh well...)For those people that had something negative to say about the track selection - please put together a list of albums for me because I own a lot of electronic music, and this is one of the best overall trance compilations I have heard. I was blown away by this album. I don't have much by Acosta, but after hearing this and his previous (Next Level), I will likely buy everything that he has done in the past 5 years. Acosta really satifies those listeners looking for the hard to find but still beautiful harder trance, as well as dropping some excellent melodic tracks on the first CD. I must also point out that track number 11, 'Secret Memory'(produced by Acosta himself), on the first disc is absolutely excellent. Some other notables are both Cosmic Gate tracks, Sunspot (Airwave vs. Rising star, #9 - disc 1), 2nd Step (Dj Wag,#9 -Disc 2), Red Planet (Avatar, #10 - Disc 2)and Acosta's second fabulous production on this mix 'Dance with the Sun' - Disc 2 last track. Enjoy!! This mix is well worth the money!

What Happened?,

Some of the tracks are good but for the most part this is the worst George Acosta output. There is no self being to the release at all. Never takes you to another level. Mixes are ok. And there is the most annoying hissing and static that shouldn't appear on Professional CDs. I mix my own Vinyl and I don't get that hissing after recording to a CD.

so i borrowed this cd from some guys that are into trance like i am. I was amazed to see that the continuation to Next Level was equally as good if not better. CD1 by far i think is better than 2. One is more melodic, yet not cheezy if you have a good system. I run my material through 1500 Watts of continuous powered speakers, no doubt it picks up everything, even things that werent ment to be there such as the horrible scrathing sound, especially at silent areas where the listener would like to go into the deepest level of trance. UGH, the recorder/editor should have been fired no doubt... as far as the mix, never better!. Its not hard trance, but wow, song number two, (not including the intro as one), is amazing with the synthesizer sounds no doubt, and 8, 9, 10 .. never mind, BUY IT, definitely buy it, its beautiful.

Trance at its best!,

I am a new comer to this trance game and I haven't bought many trance C'D's, but this CD is the best amongst the ones I have purchased. The first CD just takes you, It puts you in a state of serinity where you just wanna chill. Its laid back and very smooth. I listen to the CD when I simply want to get away. The only problem with the CD is the "scratchy" noise in the beggining of some of the songs. It sounds like the engineer didn't do a good job of eliminating this noise. But other than that, this CD is the bomb! A must have.

Acosta's Best to Date,
By Tim Rohal II (Stratton, OH United States) - See all my reviews

This set, Acosta's 5th (and first double set), opens well and continues through "Open Our Eyes" by Insigma, which lives up to the mix's title. It's one of my favorites on this disc, along with Gouryella's "Ligaya". "Revolution" reminded me of the Atlanta Braves for some reason. =) The mixing is top-notch. Several of the transitions went unnoticed until the song opened up full force and even then I sometimes checked the CD player for the track number. I wanted to do a clinical review, but found myself getting too lost in this wonderful compilation to do that. Sure, there is the background noise that comes with using analog sources, but it's not noticeable until the really quiet parts. The second disc, the Darc Disc, was a treat through and through, except when "Thunderbird" started up. I just don't think it belonged on this CD. It did settle into a decent rhythm after the first couple of minutes though. Despite this minor setback, the 2nd disc delivers with some driving beats and deep rhythms. It closed strong with "Dance with the Sun" by the Shadow Warriors, one of my favorite tracks on the set. Overall, the set is one of Acosta's finest. Not quite a 5-star, but definitely better than a 4...but 4 1/2 isn't a choice. Great from beginning to end.

George Acosta sets a new standerd for Trance CDs!!,

I had really began to disbeleive in George Acosta after I had bought his Next Level CD. I thought it was well mixed and all, but the songs made me want to slit my wrists. This cd is just what I want I wanted it to be. I was really impressed. The actual mixing wasn't as flawless as I've heard from him before, but over all it's one of the better trance cds i've heard, and the dark trance cd I just really like. I wouldn't even call it dark. I would call it hard progresive which I really enjoy. I think that if you don't like either of these CDs then you probablly don't like the type of trance he's spinning.

Darc Side: Disc Two - better than Disc One,

This 2 disc music set really gets me energized! I love it. I must admit, the second disc is much, much better than the first. And, I must admit, that I agree with one other individual who rated this CD that there is a really weird "hissing" noise behind all of the music. I thought it was just my system, but I guess I was wrong. The mixes are amazing and worth it even with the noise in the background. I usually only listen to CD 2, so having a the first is a little bit of a waste to me.
