ive become generally dissolusioned with the "mix cd" scene (mainly all those hundreds of progressive trance/house series that all sound the same), but i still of course love a good set to listen to and touching bass is a wicked collection of tracks and very well put together, charissa ripping it up as usual.. the dnb mix pretty hardcore, not like crazy-smash-your-head-on-the-floor death-wreck-hell-step but rougher/heavier than like propa classics or other mixes i have. lots of pumped up amens/firefights with hoovers and rumbly basslines and what have you.. theres some dope standouts, Music in Me = super awesome.. real wicked stuff all in all. the breaks mix i have to say i like more, just cuz my taste in dnb runs more towards the ambient/jazzy/sampled kinda stuff than heavier club-oriented stuff. the first track in the breaks mix is a dope track by rap and konverter with some wacky vocoded sampling and all sorts of good stuf like that. once again pretty much what youd expect from a good breaks mix, the unrelenting snare hits with the usual phatty basses and filtered crazyness. cant say im too big on the sort of disco sounding cuts towards the end though, but its all good. overall a couple super high energy sets of pounding rhythms and bass by everybody's favorite english ninja (and thers some cool stuff on the enhanced portion too for us producer people)

Great double cd!,

I think this cd could probably appeal to almost anyone that is into electronic music. I am not too hip on drum and bass and some of DJ Rap's albums like Brave New World and Propa Classics didnt sit too well with me, although I like them now, they just were not up to par w/ her other album, Learning Curve. I like her Breaks cd in this album a little better than the Drum and Bass one, the breaks just rock, reminding me a bit of Hybrid. But both are phenominal, truly the best she has released so far. For the money, its definately worth it.

Funky Breaks, But Classic Jungle,

With an artist like DJ Rap, I always gotta show her much much love considering she has that typical Orlando Breaks style like Dj Icey, Baby Anne, Dj Fixx. If you are inspired by Nu-Skool Breaks Like these guys then get up on it if it's selling for a good price cuz I think the 2nd track called SCRAME worth the whole album. It was also made by DJ Icey & he rips it up Killer.

I thought dj rap's touching bass was a good album. I enjoyed the breaks cd a lot and didn't need a second listen to appreciate it. I do admit i had to listen to the drum and bass cd more to appreciate it but in the end i enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend this cd to anyone who is into new tunes and has cash to spend. Keep it up charissa!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the other reviews: the breaks CD is really awesome; I like it better than DJ Icey's latest, actually... More dark than funky. The drum & bass CD is just okay. Tends towards hard.

This comes from the Queen of D&B?,

Pesonally what I've heard here didn't do much for me at all, probably because I'm not really into this side of d&b. Propa Classics and Brave New World had much more solid tracks IMO and even those cd's I look at and wish she could have layed down something more artistic (or put in the representing remix with propa at least). Of course her mixing is great as always but what I'd really love to see her do is some more hard hitting techstep and all that. I don't know how many of you know who she is but she's been arround since the beginning of d&b itself practicly and in my mind holds equal to Grooverider, Goldie, Fabio, and all of them just for that and the fact that her live sets were tough as hell back in the day. Personally I know she can do a lot better than this selection wise and I'd love to see her throw down a mix with enough steel & concrete to challenge the likes of Dj 3D, Dieselboy, and Dara! I know she can do it and I'm sure there's a lot of d&bheads who'd buy it up in two seconds flat.

Studio Set Needs More Variety...,

DJ Rap's TOUCHING BASS was pretty good the first time I listened to it. I put the volume in the red, and the hi's-mid's-lo's at the usual d'n'b levels - LOW AND HARD. Needless to say, this double serving of DJ Rap's mixing hit me the way her sets usually do when I see her live. The 2nd cd of mostly breakbeats was a nice bonus as well - BREAKDANCE-A-LICIOUS!HOWEVER, as I listened to it over & again, I noticed a slight lack of flavor with the 1st cd. D'n'B is DJ Rap's format definitely, but for a DJ set that's STUDIO and not live, she didn't bother exploring the vast variety of current artists' tracks that are out now - both old and new. It seemed she stuck to tracks that banged hard MERELY FOR THE NOTION OF SOUNDING HARDCORE( I.E. the accidental heros/Sonic&Silver trk's 4&5 clashing styles against the older skool Danny C & DJ Rap tracks ). The 1st cd lacked a bit of cohesion, thus the vibe I felt was energetic, but without soul - merely wasn't feeling the direction of the mix. I've heard her come better with the vibe. I suppose if you're into the more signature "industrial bassline" type mixes, this one's for you. I personally think that style is washed-up - years ago. BOTTOM LINE - the 2nd cd is Breaks and is comparable to any DJ ICEY / BABY ANNE cd, BUT THE 1ST CD IS A MORE OR LESS BLAND DISPLAY OF THE D'N'B DJ'ing SHE IS RENOWNED FOR.
