2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected December 1, 2009

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I already own the original Touchmaster and I really enjoy it. I chose not to purchase Touchmaster 2 based on reviews. Touchmaster 3 is a real let down with too much emphasis on poker and card knowledge. The game selections are not much fun to play and are very limited. I thought this game would be as much fun if not better than the first one. I was wrong. My take: Too much money for Too little fun. I wouldn't recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poker based games dominate touchmaster 3 November 8, 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I prepurchased Touchmaster 3 and received it 6 days ago. I was disappointed that much of the content is based on knowledge of Poker terminology.

It is rated for Everyone. I don't think "everyone" includes poker playing 6 year olds.

My family does not play any card games so found touchmaster3 a disappointment.

If I had known before ordering that so much poker knowledge was needed, I would never have purchased this item. The graphics are very good but the score keeping has all the disadvantages of touchmaster2 plus a few new ones. They have advanced to just showing a picture of your trophy, not telling you if it is gold or bronz.

For the children who play my games, not being able to improve his/her score after mastering a game is a disincentive to continue with the game. They still play TM1 but long ago put TM2 aside because everyone had mastered all the games.

If you are a poker player, and do not care about bettering your score, you may be delighted with TM3.

3.0 out of 5 stars TOUCHMASTER 1 AND 2 ARE MUCH BETTER November 9, 2009
Verified Purchase
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I have Touchmaster 1 and 2. They are games I still go back to because of the variety. They're easy to play when you just want some down time. I was eagerly waiting for Touchmaster 3 and unfortunately it has not lived up to the 2 previous versions. The games are more difficult and there is not much variety. Very disappointing. If Touchmaster 4 is in the works I probably won't buy it based on how Touchmaster 3 has let me down.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very few fun games November 13, 2009
By shopper
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I haven't tried the previous two games but I figured the newest one would be best to try. I guess I was wrong. This is one of the more expensive DS games, so I figured it must be good. There are only two games that I like, Slime Assault and Wild Words. For a game that has 20 mini games there should have been at least 5 that I would play. If I had known what I was in for prior to purchasing I never would have bought it. This game is worth no more than $10 in my opinion. I strongly suggest trying it before you buy if at all possible.

Update: I have found a few more games that I like, but also some more complaints. This game is very simplistic in the sense of options. There is no save feature. This is incredibly annoying considering that some of the games can go on for a long time (ex. Nine hole and Prisma Tix 2). When I have a really good game going but need to do something else, I have to leave the game paused until I'm ready to finish the game (hence draining my DS battery). Another thing I've noticed is that it only saves your top score. I like games that have at least the top 5 scores saved so that I can set new goals. The card game selection is also to focused on Poker games. Out of the 5 card games available, only one isn't related to poker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still happy I bought this one January 27, 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I only really play two games on this version. I just don't care for the card games. I do not play chess. But I do like the pipe game that is really a game of pipe dream. I play that for a while then go to another game. Was it worth the money? probably not. They will have a ways to go to beat the touchmaster one game. I have tried two times to buy another version of touchmaster, in game 2 and 3, but alas, game one is still the best of the three.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Little Time Waster March 23, 2010

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
We are big fans of Touchmaster 2 (especially the incredibly addictive game of Mahki). This next iteration is along the same lines, but the graphic seems much snazzier and jazzed up. There are 20 new games (no sequel to Mahki though, which made me sad). The games are divided into card games, strategy games (Chef Memory is a fun little twist on the kid's game Memory), action games (Electro Maze was fun), puzzle games (which are the main attraction for me ... at bit more on those games in a bit), and word games. We particularly like the puzzle games so that is where I will focus my review as that is what we mostly play and like:

Prisma Tix 2 - in which you have to match patterns of colors and clear as much of the board as you can; has the most potential to be addictive like Mahki

DiceKing2 - matching colored dice according to set patterns (kind of like Yahtzee in a way)

Sludgeworks - create pipes for sludge to move in and get the pipe to an predefined exit point

Block Dropper - matching colored blocks that fall off a conveyor belt and blow them up with a bomb before the conveyor belt gets too backed up

Recall - very similar to the concept of Simon; you have to remember a sequence of colors/beats and repeat them.

One new feature I liked is that you can earn "trophies" for each game by achieving certain preset goals that are described in the trophy room.

Another neat game was Sea Word, which is a spelling game where you swim a little fish around to find bubbles with letters in them to spell the words given to you. If you hit a sea creature, your bubbles pop. This seems to have addictive potential ... and my 5-year-old son really enjoyed playing it.
