Last year I used a Tough-1 muzzle which lasted all summer on my mare. I was able to start this summer with it. Just June 19th I ordered this one, received it June 21 and placed it on her June 22nd. Today, June 28th, the hole is triple the size of the old one I threw away that had lasted an entire summer+. I am incredibly disappointed at the decreased quality. I think I should receive a refund as a replacement will do no good. Do not buy. I am also a former user of Best Friend Grazing Muzzles and found that the Tough-1 I bought last year held up BETTER than the Best Friend models (I had 3). SO disappointed that I will again have to find a different brand.

This muzzle works great! Does just what it is intended to do. My horse has figured out how to get it off a couple times, but it's not a daily thing, and who can blame him! If he wants to run with the big horses he has to have it on though...He's in much better physical condition. He is still able to eat, just not as much...just as it was intended. Should have bought this long ago!

This muzzle is very pretty and worked just fine. For the week it remained intact. My girl had this off over head within a few days and torn apart inside of a week. She may have had some assistance from her one year old and very mouthy friend but it turned into a slightly expensive barn ornament.

I measured around the bridge of my horses' nose. Two were 16 1/2 inches and one was 17 inches. Then I searched for a size chart on the net and boy did I get a surprise. According to a chart on Chick's web page the muzzle for a mini is 22 inch circumference! This can't be right! Well, since my horses are small I decided to go with the pony size even thought the same chart said the muzzles would have a 24 inch circumference, which would be way too big, right?

Well, when I got the pony size muzzles they were 18 inches circumference! What's the deal? Well, I think the size chart refers to the length of the strap that goes from one side of nose, around the ears to the other side of the nose or the headstall and not the circumference of the actual muzzle itself. Lucky for me the headstalls just fit and so did the muzzles.

My horses adapted very well to them. I introduced them to their muzzles while grooming and then let them go in the yard for a couple of hours. They didn't even try to eat. They acted like they were tied up. Then I took them off for a while and put them on again at night while in the pasture. Neither came off during the two nights I used them. I also didn't see any rubbing or chafing marks. The quality of the materials is good. Actually, it's better then I expected.

I bought two types: the Grazing Cribbing Muzzle and the Easy Breathe. The Cribbing one engulfs the horses hose more and may not come off as easily. The Easy Breathe seems to be a bit looser fit and a troublesome horse may get it off easier. However, they both worked well. I have one horse that snorts a lot so I use the Easy Breath on him.

The picture shows a mettle ring that you can use to tie them with but neither of mine came with one. Its ok though.

I purchased two of these and within 15 minutes my horse had ripped both of them off. Poorly constructed with flimsy nylon and the plastic adjustable pieces just do not work.

This is a pretty good grazing muzzle in terms of durability. It has held up well to one season's use and has not broken. The Velcro crown makes it easy to put on and adjust fairly quickly. It definitely cuts down on the amount of pasture a horse can graze, which is good for laminitic horses. However, my horse has figured out how to rub her head on an object and remove it. However, the reviews I read for grazing muzzles here before I bought this one suggest that horses either tend to break these or remove them, so I am not too surprised by this turn of events.

This is the 2nd Tough-1 for my pony - who founders very easily and needs his muzzle every day, while our Oregon spring grass is lush and clover-y. Fits well (adjustable) , has options for placing and removal(Velcro or clips) , plastic buckles need to be reinforced w/ duck tape, but then it lasts an entire season. He eventually nibbles thru the rubber, but it really is plenty thick. All in all good, and it will be my yearly choice for him.

I bought this brand because it was cheaper than another well known brand but it didn't fit well. The basket was small for the muzzle but the halter to keep it on was too big.
