5.0 out of 5 stars great hero on a mission!!, April 4, 2003

This review is from: Tough As Nails (Men on a Mission) (Mass Market Paperback)
Brianna Kent is a well respected psychologist and has become the target of a
stalker. She is forced to hire the services of a top notch Manhattan-based
security company which is owned by her ex husband. Michael Landis is ex
military and has brought his skills from the Special Forces into his company
TALON-6. As soon as Mike learns his ex wife is being stalked he utilizes his
knowledge, and his company, to protect her at all costs. And in the process
discovers he still loves Bria and vows to find the person that is tormenting
her. Things become deadly when the stalker holds Brianna's life in his hands
and it is up to Michael to save the woman he loves.

Michael Landis is an Alpha male you definitely have to meet. And his special
security company TALON-6 will intrigue readers that enjoy military romance.
TOUGH AS NAILS is action packed and the renewed love between the hero and
heroine will satisfy your romantic soul. I will definitely be keeping my
eyes on this author for more TALON-6 books. Great story!

4.0 out of 5 stars DEFINITELY A 4 PLUS - #2 OF MEN ON A MISSION - #1 OF THE TALON-6 SERIES, February 22, 2006

Michael Landis is definitely a Man on a Mission - too bad his ex-wife is a bit off base in her emotions.

She has issues that she has not resolved so how can she advise others? At least aunt Nora has a modicum of sense. She has kept in touch with Mike. And knows that he has the ability to protect the very reluctant Brianna Kent.

Brianna figures the Mike walked away from their marriage and didn't look back. Little does she know.

Michael Landis is one of the partners of Talon-6 along with Liam O'Shea, Clete, Russel and the daughter of deceased Master Sergeant Stuart Thomas who acts as secretary, Bailey.

The trouble is that the stalker is always one step ahead of them. And, of course, Brianna can't believe that anyone she knows would betray her and her clients. Except someone is listening - taking pictures - and trying to trap her.

Brianna doesn't want anything to do with Mike out side of the business of catching this stalker. But she still falls into the trap of her own hormones. She hasn't had a relationship in the past two years [yet hints at the physical] what a drip.

Love the smarts of the stalker - he almost gets her, due to her own niavity. Not much self-preservation instinct there.

Excellent story - great characters [even the stalker] great action - mystery - cat and mouse game.

Definitely Recommended -m a great read [just can't stand these silly females.]

4.0 out of 5 stars A Romantic Story, June 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tough As Nails (Men on a Mission) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is about a psychiatrist who is being stalked by someone who wants to kill her. She is known for her work on battered womens cases and someone who has access to her office and an in-depth knowledge of surveylence is coming after her. She promises her loving aunt that she will get in touch with her ex-husband, and the head of a private security agency, for help. Between the stalker and the love the two still have for eachother, the book really sizzles.

I enjoyed the book because the two have some unresolved issues that they have to work through and despite their attraction, they care enough about eachother to know that getting more intimately involved would be a heartbreak waiting to happen. Therefore, the suspense is a great build up. The action is continuous and the ending is perfect. Not a book to make you think but a great summer read.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite Harlequin Intrigue Author!!, April 2, 2003

Hold onto to your hat when you read Jackie Manning's Intrigue: Tough as Nails. This book received 4 ½ stars from Romantic Times, and no wonder! The book starts off with the heroine in more trouble than she realizes because she's got a stalker hot on her trail. In light of the terrifying things happening to her, she's forced to accept the help of her ex-husband, Mike Landis, an ex-military special forces soldier who is now a member of a special security agency. TALON 6. He's a definite hunk who won't let anything or anyone get the better of him - definitely tough as nails. As the mystery heats up, so does the romance! Will Mike be able to save his ex-wife from a stalker who always seems to be a step ahead of him? I couldn't put this book down. Once you meet these compelling characters you'll have to know what happens to them. It's a definite page turner from the very beginning! When's the next one?
