Book Description

This special white paper uses an extensive collection of news reports from an eight-year period to survey the circumstances and outcomes of defensive gun uses in America. The authors examine recent legal issues and trends surrounding the law of self defense and explore the circumstances in which people use guns against criminals, illustrating how the vast majority of gun owners are ethical and competent— and how tens of thousands of crimes are prevented each year by ordinary citizens with guns. A lengthy appendix provides scores of documented examples in which ordinary people have used guns to defend themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fact-Based Gun Analysis March 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Tough Target brings facts to the debate over gun ingredient long missing for this critical national discussion. While Supreme Court decisions may render part of the policy discussion moot, this book should nevertheless provide real-world guidance as legislatures and law enforcement work to answer question left in the wake of the decision in District of Columbia vs. Heller. Great work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly Facts April 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Book is somewhat dry, but it is full of facts about people who were able to protect themselves because they had a gun. It is one of those books you need if you have people that argue with you about owning guns or not. These are real stories about real people who had to use a gun to protect themselves and their families.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, a bit short February 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I probably should have looked a little closer at the details - I guess I was expecting a longer book; Nonetheless, well written, seems fair and balanced - of course, i agree with the conclusions, so I'm sure I'm a little biased.

Balanced collection of factual stories. I very much enjoyed it, and it has special significance during the current gun control debate.
