About the Author

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, June Skinner Sawyers has written extensively about music, travel, history, spirituality, and popular culture. She contributes regularly for the Chicago Tribune, where she used to write a nightlife column, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She has taught numerous classes in the humanities at the Newberry Library in Chicago, including a course that studied the music of Bruce Springsteen. She is the author or editor of more than a dozen books, including Celtic Music, Racing in the Street: The Bruce Springsteen Reader, and the forthcoming About a Lucky Band that Made the Grade: The Beatles Together... and Apart.

I only bought this book as I made the cover photograph and they used it without ever getting my permission or paying me.

a reflection on the content of the book itself, but it seems a shame that they wouldn't pay the photographer of the cover photo. Also, what's with the publisher's product description: Greetings from Asbury Park, NY? Writing a blurb about a book about Springsteen's work and you can't get an album title correct? And confusing NY and NJ with Springsteen? Silly.

Simply a great book for any Bruce Springsteen fan. The author does a fine job of gathering information and writing it in such a way that will inspire any reader.
