The Toughest?,
By H3@+h "Over 1500 reviews!" (thanks for the helpful review votes) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toughest (Audio CD)
I don't know what album this tracklist is from, but my copy of "The Toughest" that I've had for 10 years, is only 11 tracks, and it starts with "Coming in Hot", and ends with "In my Song". I would watch out for this, as you may not get what you're expecting. As for my cd, it's some of the best reggae I've ever heard, and rivals Bob Marley's "Legend" as the best of the genre. Of course "Peter Tosh" has numerous collections out, so you should be able to find what you want on most of them.

The Peter Tosh equivalent to "Legend",
By Bruddah Haole (Listening to this album!) - See all my reviews

"The Toughest" is the Peter Tosh equivalent to Bob Marley's "Legend" album. Like "Legend", "The Toughest" is a great album and an excellent starting point; but if you want the full effect of both Marley's and Tosh's greatness, you have to delve deeper into their catalogs than simply the "greatest hits" collections.

This is one of the greatest reggae cd's of all time! It should be in everyone's collection right next to Bob Marley's 'Legend'. Some people think it's not a fair overview of Tosh's music and I agree (this cd doesn't go near any of his work before 1978 which is actually stronger than anything he did later), but I gave it 5 stars anyway because 1) His later recordings were geared to an international audience and this cd is the perfect introduction to the average Joe who thinks Bob Marley's the only reggae artist worth taking interest in; and 2)His first two albums, 'Legalize It' and 'Equal Rights' are powerful enough by themselves to stand up to any 'best of' cd and it would be too hard to pick tracks for a compilation, making 'Toughest' a perfect 3rd installment to two already classic sets. The three of them together create an excellent trilogy of Peter Tosh greats!.....P.S. As other reviewers have pointed out, the tracklist here does not go with this cd. However there is another 'Toughest' Peter Tosh cd with these tracks and who ever did this page has mixed the wrong cover picture with the wrong tracks! The cd I'm reviewing starts with 'Comming in Hot'.
