5.0 out of 5 stars A well rounded and solid mix., March 11, 2002

I had the pleasure of seeing Adam Freeland at a Crystal Method show in DC and believe me, this cat holds it down better than most DJ's I've seen. His opening set at the show blew up the room and made the Crystal Method look JV. It's nice to see that Breaks are finally getting some recognition. Other than Icey there really isn't a Breaks DJ that is known outside the realm. "On Tour" is a solid representation of Nu-Skool breaks and is great for someone who has never heard the genre. Some of the mixes sound a little forced but mixing breaks isn't like mixing 4-on-the-floor house or trance. Any knuckle-head whose had decks for a couple months can do that. Break mixing takes a more technically proficient DJ. Hopefully in a few more years Breakbeat will reach a substantial popularity and people can start using those Oakenfold CD's as coasters (as I do).

5.0 out of 5 stars A JOYRIDE INTO THE WORLD OF NU SKOOL BREAKS !!!, October 22, 2001

This Cd makes it clear: Nu Skool Breaks are not just dark and dirty. This Cd is a very well balanced between more upbeat funky tunes and some darker more serious stuff. At no times is this Mix is cheesy tough. Even if you are not into Nu Skool Breaks this one might change your mind. Most Nu Skool mixes are way to hard and dark and most funky breaks cds just plain cheese but there are always exceptions to the rule. See Icey's - Essential Elements.
Adam Freeland has put live recordings of the screaming crowd into the mix which adds a really great stadium feel to this CD.
The mixing is tight and the atmosphere great.
Tayos - Y4k was last years nu skool winner and this year Adam takes the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars pleased as punch, November 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: On Tour (Audio CD)
Not sure what qualifies this as "breaks" or "new school," but as an avid listener of darker trance, downbeat, trip-hop and instrumental deep house, this mix rates among my best recent purchases. I would almost compare it to Anthony Pappa's Global Underground Newbreed release in that the track selection is stellar, and the mix is dark and cerebral. Hard to classify, but anyone who enjoys turning down the lights will like this. (...)
