A well rounded and solid mix.,

I had the pleasure of seeing Adam Freeland at a Crystal Method show in DC and believe me, this cat holds it down better than most DJ's I've seen. His opening set at the show blew up the room and made the Crystal Method look JV. It's nice to see that Breaks are finally getting some recognition. Other than Icey there really isn't a Breaks DJ that is known outside the realm. "On Tour" is a solid representation of Nu-Skool breaks and is great for someone who has never heard the genre. Some of the mixes sound a little forced but mixing breaks isn't like mixing 4-on-the-floor house or trance. Any knuckle-head whose had decks for a couple months can do that. Break mixing takes a more technically proficient DJ. Hopefully in a few more years Breakbeat will reach a substantial popularity and people can start using those Oakenfold CD's as coasters (as I do).

A JOYRIDE INTO THE WORLD OF NU SKOOL BREAKS !!!,

This Cd makes it clear: Nu Skool Breaks are not just dark and dirty. This Cd is a very well balanced between more upbeat funky tunes and some darker more serious stuff. At no times is this Mix is cheesy tough. Even if you are not into Nu Skool Breaks this one might change your mind. Most Nu Skool mixes are way to hard and dark and most funky breaks cds just plain cheese but there are always exceptions to the rule. See Icey's - Essential Elements.Adam Freeland has put live recordings of the screaming crowd into the mix which adds a really great stadium feel to this CD. The mixing is tight and the atmosphere great. Tayos - Y4k was last years nu skool winner and this year Adam takes the price.

Not sure what qualifies this as "breaks" or "new school," but as an avid listener of darker trance, downbeat, trip-hop and instrumental deep house, this mix rates among my best recent purchases. I would almost compare it to Anthony Pappa's Global Underground Newbreed release in that the track selection is stellar, and the mix is dark and cerebral. Hard to classify, but anyone who enjoys turning down the lights will like this. (...)

the sound of the new millenium,

A MUST for any breaks fan. Freeland tears it up again. The mixing is flawless as always, and the track selection is unique. On this cd he brings it back to a live feel (ala coastal breaks 2) with some cutting and tricks! Throughout the mix he utilizes 3 turntables with Bassbin Twins - ESW [for those who don't know that means playing 3 songs at once!]The standout tracks on the cd have to be the freeland & ils remix of fluke and bushwacka's egyptian. Also if you don't have them yet, I would recomend getting Tectonics and Coastal Breaks 2!

not quite tectonics,
This review is from: On Tour (Audio CD)
i thought adam freeland's 'tectonics' was a masterpiece, the first nu school breaks cd of such calibur that i've heard. i was excited for this release, but was somewhat disappointed. 'on tour' is good, but adam freeland can do better. the inserted crowd noises are cheesy, and don't add much to the mix. there's some strong tracks here - the remix of 'voices' is an interesting take on the popular song. other songs in the mix pass by without leaving much of an impression. there are some moments of excellent dj-ing, but many of the mixes are a little bland. the cd cover art is cool, and it's a good listen, especially if you like nu school breaks. for something better, try 'tectonics,' or 'future soundscapes' by draco & exazt. for something more atmospheric, koma & bones have a new disc out that's good.

Not tectonic,

After having listened to his previous CD 'tectonics' for a while i was quite disapointed with this one.in Tectonics, A. Freeland creates a 'mood' , a dark , cavenous, underground mood with exploding beats. However in this one, that mood is no longer there..

great track selection, great mix but theres crowd noise throughout...i know it's a "tour" cd but it detracts from the music..this isn't "kiss alive II" and the screaming people just dont add anything useful..pick up used, not new.
