Probably the best to come out of France,
By
This review is from: Le Tour de France (Audio CD)
This live album has got all a live album needs. Not only does France Gall sing just like you imagine a Frenchwoman would do, she also charms her fans with nice little stories and fantasies, and she is joined by the Phoenix Horns and Doudou N'Diaye Rose who really add some spice to her nice songs.Much of this album is inspired by blues and jazz. And some of the songs are blown up to double length, without ever becoming pretentious. The highlights are »Amor Tambien«, »Big Fat Mama« and »Ella, Elle L'A« - the last one being a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. One regret though: the original vinyl double album contains 13 songs - the CD contains only 11. Not too wise!

France black and white,

This review is from: Le Tour de France (Audio CD)
For this extract of the "Show 87-88" directed by Michel Berger, France Gall offers us a black and white musical concert. She returns to the jazz of the beginning with the group "Phoenix Horns" for the unforgettable session: "I'll go where you'll go" ("J'irai ou tu iras") + "Big Fat Mamma". Then rhythmic African black with "Babacar" (with the Senegalese group "Doudou N'Diaye Rose") + "Ella, she has it" ("Ella, elle l'a"). Other big songs are judiciously inserted into the concert: "He played piano standing" ("Il jouait du piano debout"), "Obviously" ("Evidemment"), "Resists" ("Resiste") and "Disconnects" ("Debranche"). To finish, after 73 minutes of intense emotion, a confession to the public: "It's good that you are there" ("C'est bon que tu sois la").
