4.0 out of 5 stars Good middle-weight riding jacket
I bought this jacket for winter motorcycle riding in north Texas. The first thing a motorcyclist learns is to always cover up for safety. The second thing is that there is no one jacket for all seasons. This jacket is a good choice for moderate winter weather.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as well ventilated as earlier versions
This jacket is a redesigned version of a previous jacket my husband wore. The new vent zippers are not well positioned so it doesn't ventilate. In hot summers, you will get quite warm. It should be quite useful in cool to cold weather. It looks nice and otherwise seems well constructed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good middle-weight riding jacket, January 4, 2012
I bought this jacket for winter motorcycle riding in north Texas. The first thing a motorcyclist learns is to always cover up for safety. The second thing is that there is no one jacket for all seasons. This jacket is a good choice for moderate winter weather.

The jacket is well made - Sturdy fabric. Heavy-duty bidirectional zipper. Heavy velcro flap that seals over the zipper. Velcro waist straps that cinch tightly to keep the jacket in place, and keep the air stream out. High, wrap-around collar. Cinch-down cuffs to keep the cold air stream out. And a thick, comfy zip-out quilted liner.

Here are some important pluses - First, it's very comfortable, despite the fact that it is thick and rather stiff. Some jackets feel like chicken wire; this one is snug and comfy. Next, it is plenty thick enough (plus having elbow armor) to give good anti-road-rash protection if the unthinkable happens. Third and most important, it's warm enough for what I bought it for. I've worn it on numerous 35 to 60* days including some light rain, and have always been warm and dry. My only real dislike is that the wraparound collar tends to chafe a bit, but a neck scarf remedies that problem.

Like I said up front, there is no one jacket for all seasons. If you're riding from Omaha to Fargo in the dead of winter, this jacket won't cut it - spend the bucks for an arctic jacket. If you ride in the hot Texas summer, you probably won't be comfortable even with the lining removed and all air vents open. But for weather above freezing and below mid-eighties, it's a good bet - and a good value.
