Book Description

0781724058 978-0781724050 January 15, 2001
This volume presents a comprehensive account of the most recent achievements worldwide in the study and treatment of Tourette syndrome and related childhood onset neuropsychiatric disturbances. Internationally recognised authorities from all relevant basic science, clinical, and behavioral science disciplines review new findings and concepts on the genetics, neurobiology, pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, natural history, epidemiology, and therapy of Tourette syndrome. A major area of emphasis is the relationship of Tourette syndrome to comorbid and associated conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autistic spectrum disorders, and behavioral difficulties involving impulse regulation

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent technical book, misleading publisher's blurb, February 4, 2001

This review is from: Tourette Syndrome (Hardcover)
The publisher's statement, cited above, that this focuses on "neuropsychological" issues is wrong. Only a small part does this. The book is the outcome of the June 1999 3rd International Symposium in New York, and contains almost all of the edited talks given there. It is deliberately technical in its approach, and therefore most suitable for physicians, psychologists, and other health care-related professionals who have an interest in Tourette's and its associated disorders. Though costly, I highly recommend it as a "state of the art" publication.

Roger D. Freeman, M.D., Vancouver, BC
