About the Author

Fascinated with the Civil War since fourth grade, Clint Johnson counts Confederate soldiers from three states among his ancestors. he has written nine books on the war (among them Civil War Blunders), as well as hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles on business, history, and travel. His hobbies include reenacting with the 26th Regiment of North Carolina Troops (which goes as the 24th Michigan when portraying Federals) and Cowboy Action Shooting , in which he shoots oh so slowly in the "Duelist" category as "Carolina Clint." He lives in the mountians in Jefferson, North Carolina. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars The guide to have when touring Carolinas' Civil War sites, June 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Touring the Carolina's Civil War Sites (Touring the Backroads Series) (Paperback)
This book is invaluable to the Civil War enthusiast when touring the battlefields and sites of the Carolina's. The tours are filled with surprises that are off the beaten path and the directions are life savers. Without this book I'd have missed some priceless sidetrips. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone taking a Civil War tour of the Carolinas and look forward to more such books from Clint Johnson in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A user-friendly guide, April 14, 2001
This review is from: Touring the Carolina's Civil War Sites (Touring the Backroads Series) (Paperback)
Maps and black-and-white photographs pepper Touring the Carolinas' Civil War Sites, a blend of history and travel guide to historic places in North and South Carolina. Now in an updated second edition, Touring the Carolinas' Civil War Sites features 21 tours. A user-friendly guide, Touring the Carolinas' Civil War Sites is enthusiastically recommended both for visitors to the Carolinas and for armchair travelers interested in vicariously re-living pivotal moments in American military history. Also highly recommended for Civil War tourists is Johnson's "Touring Virginia's and West Virginia's Civil War Sites", also in a newly updated second edition.
