Fast pace, full of action and best of all, well written,
This review is from: Touring for Death (A Kate Jones Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
Kate's in Arizona now and is working as a tour guide. It doesn't take long for people to start dying all around her. What's odd though, is that she is usually the target. If you're not familiar with this series, Kate is on the run from a Mexican drug lord who wants her eliminated. She was in the witness protection program, and well, barely escaped with her life.Anyway, these deaths don't really seem the same, but any death isn't good. Seems she should have high-tailed it out of town anyway, because things go south fast. There is a brief romance, but most of the story is filled with the nail-biting danger this author is so good at writing. Fun stuff!

Fantastic Fast-paced Adventure!,
This review is from: Touring for Death (A Kate Jones Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
Kate is a strong, highly-capable woman with a past she fears may be catching up with her. In this longer novella, the pacing is fast and intense as Kate tries to find who is killing off people on her jeep tour before she herself is counted among the dead. Great hooks, mystery, and love the romance between Kate and Cole! I'd highly recommend this story to anyone who loves mystery, acton, and adventure! 5 stars!

Action in Arizona,

Touring for Death - Action in ArizonaRating: 4 of 5 Author: D.V. Berkom Format: Kindle After leaving Hawaii, Kate Jones decides to stop running from her past and heads to Arizona working as a tour guide taking customers into the beautiful and dangerous mountain mesas. Returning from one such journey with a family of four, the brakes in her jeep give out hurtling them downhill with little control. Through a bit of luck, Kate and her passengers barely survive the ordeal. As the days pass, Kate learns of a number of recent deaths which all share a common thread. They were all a part of recent tours that she had led. Is it her drug lord ex-boyfriend hunting her down once more, or is something else happening to Kate and will she figure it out before it is too late? D.V. Berkom's "Touring for Death" is the latest in the Kate Jones series of books. Similar to the preceding book - "Death Rites" - Berkom has added plot complexity to her patented action packed writing style. This is a bit more of a murder mystery than the other books and there are just enough hints provided along the way that the reader has the opportunity to figure out who done. But it won't be easy, at least it wasn't for me. If you've liked early books by Berkom, you are sure to enjoy this one even more. This is one of the longer books by Berkom and has good pace balance throughout. As with all her books, this is another great value for the money. And although reading previous Kate Jones books will give context to "Touring for Death" this is really a stand alone chapter in the ongoing saga and readers new to Berkom can easily start with this novel and not miss a beat. Note: A complimentary copy of this work was provided in return for a review.

A edge of your seat fast and fun read!,

This review is from: Touring for Death (A Kate Jones Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
A fun thing about novella length books are if the writer is good, like Ms. Berkom, the reader is kept at the edge of your seat the whole read! From beginning to end Kate gets herself in so many pickles she should be in a vat! AND manages to snag the super sexy town sheriff, Cole, along the way. A little romance and a whole lot of action. This is a must for anyone who wants a fun short read to escape!

How safe is safe?,

This review is from: Touring for Death (A Kate Jones Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
After spending five peaceful years as a tour guide in a small Arizona town, Kate is finally feeling comfortable and safe. Why her tourist clients suddenly start turning up dead is a shock and a new and complete mystery to her. In the past, she knew the danger that surrounded her came from her Mexican ex-drug lord former lover. This time she has no idea who's behind the murders. The only upside to the strange happenings is it brings her into close contact with the handsome and recently divorced town sheriff, Cole. Her life becomes even more complicated when a spurned admirer, who she never realized was interested slips a "roofie" into her drink and hands her over to the corrupt DEA agent she testified against ten years earlier. After a harrowing escape, she's still left confused. She understands why the former DEA agent wanted her dead. The spurned admirer told her why he wanted revenge. The question that remains for her and Cole: Who's killing her clients? A fast paced, clever story and a must for Kate Jones adventure fans.

Mayhem in Arizona,

Kate escaped from Mexico, testified against a drug lord and has been on the run ever since. Now she's found a place and a job she loves, guiding Jeep tours in Arizona. When the brakes on her Jeep are sabotaged, nearly plunging her and her clients into oblivion, she fears her past has caught up with her. What I liked about the story: fast moving, exciting action. Kate's a sympathetic character and the bad guys are satisfyingly evil, the good guys do win. Problems: mainly concern the very short length. I wish Amazon would clearly classify it's ebook lengths: short story, novella, book length. This read like an extended outline to me. I wanted the characters fleshed out a little more."I'd found Jack and Alice." No other description of the folks she was looking for. I don't like excruciating detail of dead folks, but a little more than this would be good. The clues planted in the first chapter are too glaringly obvious. I can't bemore specific without ruining the book for another reader, but I immediately tagged it as another instance of a common plot and only wondered how Kate and the sheriff couldn't see it. But all in all, a decent short read, maybe perfect for that dentist's waiting room or an airport lounge? I'm buying the next one . . . |
