DV Berkom has done it again. I feel as though Kate Jones is a friend I need to look out for, but she does a great job of getting out of her own snares. Although Kate has had a reprieve for a few years from the perilous life she is destined to live because of her past, she soon finds out that the past she has been running from has once again found her.

Ms. Berkom fuels our addiction to her adventurous tales this time, however, by offering not one, but two distinctly different, but equally deadly villains with plots that will surely cause an untimely end to the life Kate has come to love, if she is not able to thwart them first.

A ride on the proverbial edge of your seat, Kate must fight like never before to survive. But there is still time for Kate to experience the passions we all know she possesses, when a new and alluring character, Cole, a man in law enforcement who not only possesses a rugged exterior, but a tender side as well, is introduced. You will find yourself falling over the edge right along with Kate.

Kate is forced to once again confide in someone she cares about, hoping all the while that she is not putting him and his family, for he has two young daughters, in danger.

Ms. Berkom leaves us wondering if Kate will stay in Arizona for a while, basking in the love Cole has to offer her, or if she will once again move on, roaming the world looking for a place safe from the far reaches of Salazar and his army of thugs, turned bounty hunters, who will stop at nothing to collect the reward on Kate's head.

Filled with action, adventure, suspense like you've never known, and a bit of romance, Touring for Death alludes to what the pages hold, but it is much more and definitely worth the read.

If it ain't one thang, it's anuther ! Kate Jones seems to put herself in the strangest situations ~ not to mention that she's on the run from her former lover drug lord who is still waiting to recover the money she stole from him, a corrupt DEA agent just out of prison, and the Mexican cartel mega drug lord who controls them all.

Hiding away in the high desert country of northern Arizona, Kate continues her career as a tour guide (Alaska, "Dead of Winter") when her clients keep getting themselves killed in mysterious ways. Who spotted that pesky endangered species anyway ! Surviving a mine collapse with bag of snakes for companions and escaping a flood ravaged arroyo while duct-taped in a truck, Kate once again puts her endurance skills first and foremost. And she didn't mean to fall in love.

I want to thank the author for providing me a copy of this book in return for an honest review. Reading this series has been a rare privilege. I highly recommend the Kate Jones books to everyone.

Touring for Death - Action in Arizona

Rating: 4 of 5
Author: D.V. Berkom
Format: Kindle

After leaving Hawaii, Kate Jones decides to stop running from her past and heads to Arizona working as a tour guide taking customers into the beautiful and dangerous mountain mesas. Returning from one such journey with a family of four, the brakes in her jeep give out hurtling them downhill with little control. Through a bit of luck, Kate and her passengers barely survive the ordeal. As the days pass, Kate learns of a number of recent deaths which all share a common thread. They were all a part of recent tours that she had led. Is it her drug lord ex-boyfriend hunting her down once more, or is something else happening to Kate and will she figure it out before it is too late?

D.V. Berkom's "Touring for Death" is the latest in the Kate Jones series of books. Similar to the preceding book - "Death Rites" - Berkom has added plot complexity to her patented action packed writing style. This is a bit more of a murder mystery than the other books and there are just enough hints provided along the way that the reader has the opportunity to figure out who done. But it won't be easy, at least it wasn't for me.

If you've liked early books by Berkom, you are sure to enjoy this one even more. This is one of the longer books by Berkom and has good pace balance throughout. As with all her books, this is another great value for the money. And although reading previous Kate Jones books will give context to "Touring for Death" this is really a stand alone chapter in the ongoing saga and readers new to Berkom can easily start with this novel and not miss a beat.

Note: A complimentary copy of this work was provided in return for a review.

Kate Jones is still on the run. She is determined to survive, but at what cost? How many others will die as she finds herself in predicament after predicament. This is a fast paced book like the others. You don't have time to stop and do the dishes. Don't even try.

Kate is a well-developed character that struggles with her decisions and deals with the repercussions. Even those that are pulled into the story are written well though you don't get to know them all too well as the story is relatively fast paced and from Kate's perspective.

This book has fight scenes, death, and violence. There is also language including F-bombs that aren't used too much.

This is a very short read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I can't say much more than what I've said here and the other reviews of the books in this series.

Note: I received this book from participating in a book tour with no expectation of a positive review.

After spending five peaceful years as a tour guide in a small Arizona town, Kate is finally feeling comfortable and safe. Why her tourist clients suddenly start turning up dead is a shock and a new and complete mystery to her. In the past, she knew the danger that surrounded her came from her Mexican ex-drug lord former lover. This time she has no idea who's behind the murders. The only upside to the strange happenings is it brings her into close contact with the handsome and recently divorced town sheriff, Cole.
Her life becomes even more complicated when a spurned admirer, who she never realized was interested slips a "roofie" into her drink and hands her over to the corrupt DEA agent she testified against ten years earlier. After a harrowing escape, she's still left confused. She understands why the former DEA agent wanted her dead. The spurned admirer told her why he wanted revenge. The question that remains for her and Cole: Who's killing her clients?
A fast paced, clever story and a must for Kate Jones adventure fans.

Kate's in Arizona now and is working as a tour guide. It doesn't take long for people to start dying all around her. What's odd though, is that she is usually the target. If you're not familiar with this series, Kate is on the run from a Mexican drug lord who wants her eliminated. She was in the witness protection program, and well, barely escaped with her life.

Anyway, these deaths don't really seem the same, but any death isn't good. Seems she should have high-tailed it out of town anyway, because things go south fast. There is a brief romance, but most of the story is filled with the nail-biting danger this author is so good at writing. Fun stuff!

A fun thing about novella length books are if the writer is good, like Ms. Berkom, the reader is kept at the edge of your seat the whole read! From beginning to end Kate gets herself in so many pickles she should be in a vat! AND manages to snag the super sexy town sheriff, Cole, along the way. A little romance and a whole lot of action. This is a must for anyone who wants a fun short read to escape!

Kate is a strong, highly-capable woman with a past she fears may be catching up with her. In this longer novella, the pacing is fast and intense as Kate tries to find who is killing off people on her jeep tour before she herself is counted among the dead. Great hooks, mystery, and love the romance between Kate and Cole! I'd highly recommend this story to anyone who loves mystery, acton, and adventure! 5 stars!
