A Classic!,

My jaw must have just hit the floor upon reading these poor reviews!1st off, this CD wasn't released last year, but in 98', so for those hoping for the 'new' sound of DT, this is NOT it. Tourism is a classic work of house music, no doubt about it. I started listening to Danny at the tender age of 14, and attending his weekly residency @ Vinyl since 99'. This was the 1st cd of his I've ever purchased, and it blew me away. This was the style which pretty shaped my taste in house... none of the tracks are 'obvious', 'overdone', or 'obnoxious'... just bass, beats, and flawless vocals. The production is superb and in my humble opinion, set the stage for many a dj to come. If only Danny would still play these nostalgia inducing tracks on the dancefloor. If you're NOT a cheesy club kid hoping to buy a CD full of drum loops, buildups, and catchy hooks... then this classic is for you! :)

standing the test of time,

Tourism doesn't deserve poor ratings. If people are expecting this 1998 release to be like his newer GU sounds, it could likely be disappointing. Tourism in general sounds a bit more sedated and darker than the GU series. A few songs stand out and still sound amazing, like Element, Headhunter, and Read my Lips. They won't stand out like oldies in the midst of new sounds. These are the types of tunes that inspired GU Nubreed series. Some songs (Turn me On, Do you Remember, Baby Do you Feel Me) on Tourism, however, are a bit outdated from today's perspective. That's not to say that they are no good. In fact, underneat the dated vocals, lies amazing beats that's quite an impressive sound even for today.

this cd is really really really great. All of the songs are wonderfull, with many layers of sound, not just one trite rhythm like most of the stuff that passes for good music these days. This is an essential cd for anyone who likes dj music

Bought this CD for the song Elements for treadmill music. Could not find a download of just the song. Not into just sitting and listening to Techno or House so don't use my review for that end of it. I do like the Elements song though. As far as the rest of the CD, it's OK, just not my thing. I'm a Metal Head.

an overlooked classic,

i purchased this cd on a whim and boy am I glad I did. This has some great "classic" dance tunes that have formed the basic building blocks for dance music today. This is by far one of the best "artist" albums by a dj to date. It's a shame this never received the attention it should have, perhaps one day it will.

Almost fierce . . .,

In my personal opinion, Danny Tenaglia has his highs and lows in terms of the material he juxtaposes and mixes. This album is simply okay, with the great exception of the overlooked and highly creative tune "Do You Remeber Me?" This song, with fun vocals by Liz Torres, is an awesome Latin-inspired mix that begins as a housey English-spoken tune that beautifully transcends into a hot Latin-salsaesque song. (And being the visual person that I am, I will produce the music video version of this tune!) Everyone knows this album mostly for "Elements" which to me is an irritating song with a ridiculous clanking sound that's more obnoxious than innovative. However, the intro track, "Do You Feel Me" is a moderately paced track that's fun to dance to. But it would be nice to hear "Do You Remember Me" more often in the clubs though. Overall, this album is just good. Not great or stupendous, but good, worth having in your CD collection for burning certain tracks onto your custom-CDs or audio tapes.

One of the BEST dance albums of 1998,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tourism (Audio CD)
This is one of the few dance albums that can be listened to without hitting the skip button.... don't think you're getting a typical set of Danny Tenaglia as he would spin in a club - for those tracks, you'll have to pick up the (equally fantastic) singles off this album, like "Better Days" and "Elements" with their club-friendly remixes. But for listening at home, or in the car, or on the way to a club, this is the CD to have.

A GREAT PURCHASE,

I've heard all these tracks when Danny was recording them at the time, and jsut to hear the finish cut is AMAZING! MUSIC IS THE ANSWER has already become a club anthem internationally, and we all knew this when he previewd it at the Winter Music Conference. The original version is already amazing, and with his D-Tour mix on the single is just absolutely amazing too. But, just wait for the next single, Turn Me On, from what I have already heard, the mixes are great already! This album is definitely true to what HOUSE music is all about! It has everything for you in there.. deep, anthems, industrial, latin house, plus more! A brillant album from a very respectable and talented man!

If you are a DJ and are looking for some tracks to mix, buy this CD. If you have heard Tenaglia's Global Underground CDs and are looking for more of the same, don't look here. I wasted my money.

Head Hunter is a killer song - a must for any club anthems collector! This piece was a killer in the reykjavik, iceland club scene in early 90's
