This review is from: Not for Tourists Guide to Seattle (Paperback)
After having found the Not for Tourists Guide to San Francisco invaluable (as tourists), we had the same expectations for this volume. Were we in for a surprise! Yes, it has detailed maps with all sorts of useful details to things like post offices and cyber cafes. What does it not have? Bus maps! The mass transit information is almost completely non-existant. And for a city like Seattle, notorious for its clogged roadways, this is a major deficiency. Like San Francisco, Seattle is majorly hilly, not the easiest town to walk in, density is tight, and parking isn't always easy to come by, even if you're willing to pay. Seattle does have an extensive bus and now newly inaugurated light rail service, but this volume's oversight of this service dealt quite a blow to its usefulness for us. We hope this is only a one-volume oversight and future editions will correct the problem.

Disappointment,

I bought this book because of an upcoming two week trip to Seattle and thought it might offer something other than the standard fare tourist traps. It is basically nothing more than a book of maps of various Settle neighborhoods most in such tiny print that you can barely read them. I am talking microscopic here. A big disappointment and not what I expected. A waste of money.

...I figure this must be the book to buy. I'm relocationg to the Seattle area in August...so...while I can't quite comment on the book's "accuracy", I will say it's a handy size and is definitely a well put together book, quality-wise. Hey, that rhymes!!! Moving on... I can't wait to dive face first into the glossy pages of this book and will update further once I've been there for a month or three. Buy this book...IT EVEN HAS A STRAP ON IT!!! Ooooooooooo...
