You really can not go wrong with Autopsy. If you are a fan then I find it hard that they could ever disappoint you. They have stuck to the same formula since the late 80s. Granted they have evolved to some degree in regards to musicianship; however, they still manage to hold true to the spirit of their style of death metal. Autopsy will forever reign as death metal gods.

The new album doesn't vary much from "The Headless Ritual". I can say the musicianship is slightly better but other then that nothing else has really changed. Every song is exactly what you would expect from Autopsy. It's heavy, brutal, nasty, and down right filthy. This is what all death metal bands should aspire to be.

There really isn't much more that can be said for Autopsy. They always deliver and never disappoint.

Have A Nice Day

These last few years in death metal have been very exciting for me with the great Autopsy creating new material at a frightening speed. After listening to death metal for so many years one thing I've found is that even if a newer band is better produced, faster or whatever, nothing quite matches the listening experience of Autopsy's brand of very raw and grimy metal. This is more vintage Autopsy death metal, of course wrapped up with over-the-top repulsive elements, from vocals to lyrics to guitars and drums, everything about the experience is the feel of something oozing out of the graveyard--very few bands capture this atmosphere for me the way Autopsy does. I'd also like to point out that being how they're one of my favorite bands, and that I'm in my mid-thirties now, it's a huge relief to (after all those years) have this abundance of new material that (to me) outdoes the classic albums of the early years. Really breathes new life (yeah I guess I should say death, derp!) into my favorite music genre. Getting this album makes me feel like a teen again, gluttonously diving into the scene anew! Not everybody is going to get Autopsy, but if you appreciate drippy, cheesy, gory and gloomy horror movies and the feel they create you may very well also love Autopsy's brand of morbid death metal!

Their third album since returning in 2011 after a sixteen year hiatus finds Autopsy do more of what they are best at: Spitting out seething, crust-caked death metal/thrash with grinding intensities and occasional doomy breakdowns. And whether choosing to gun the engines with Slayer-inspired speed or opting to scale things down a tad with Sabbath-esque slow sludginess, the intensity level remains in the red throughout. The only thing that is missing from 2014’s “Tourniquets, Hacksaws, and Graves” is the technical bass playing of four-string virtuoso Steve DiGiorgio. Other than that, this is a true return to form for the band, an album that harkens back to their glory days (i.e. 1989’s “Severed Survival”), the period that was long before the time they went on to influence a whole new generation of gore-metallers like Cannibal Corpse.

Cuts like the album’s thunderous opener, “Savagery,” get by mainly on crashing, clattering cymbal rides, booming riffs, deranged soloing, and retching vocals, thus making them brutally filth-caked slabs of splatter-house death-thrash. And even slower ventures, like “King Of Flesh Ripped,” an ominously mid-tempo venture with a greater emphasis on guitar soloing, never fail to relent in their intensity. This is thanks mostly due to the fact that the grindcore-esque vocals are bah-roo-tal, and are filthy enough to sound positively wet in your ears. Of course, said song does eventually speed up and plunge into blistering deathgrind territory after a screaming solo comes shredding through the mix maybe three-quarters of the way into the track.

This album is awesome, the riffs are heavy, the lyrics are brutal, the songs are one hundred percent on target and the band is in top form. Can't wait to hear more new stuff from these guys \m/\m/

Autopsy: what a hell of a name and some awesome cover art. Straight out of a horror movie! The music and vocals are straight menacing, heavy and yet intricate with some melody. I have been interested is hearing more extreme metal music and these guys fit the bill. I am shocked at how much extreme music is on the shelves at best buy but Im not conplaining. It is great to be discovering so many heavy bands! Autopsy is killer
