Very solid technology; don't hesitate,

I read other reviewer's statements and cannot comment as to why her unit was unacceptable for her. But I can say that I've found this item to be exceedingly functional: heats very quickly, range of heat settings proves enormously useful, and unit works very well. I have thick-shafted hair that does not take curl easily, yet this curling iron works well, and quickly so. Furthermore, it does not at all pull the hair: the ceramic coating makes for very smooth and pain-free/tug-free operation. It is the same technology that has received high reviews in all other barrel widths, among the new Conair ceramic curling irons. Don't hesitate. Note that I do have smaller hands, and some folks have commented (re: other iron widths) that the dial for the heat settings can too easily be turned while using. I HAVE NOT FOUND THIS PROBLEM, and can only say this unit has satisfied my requirements for an accessory item of this sort. I would not hesitate to purchase this item at all, and recommend it highly.

To tell you the truth i ordered it but i wasn't really convinced it was going to work because i have bought so many styling products and non of them ever really worked, so when i got the conair curling iron and tried it i was amazed with the results my hair looked exactly as if my hairdresser did it and the curls lasted for three days, so i recommend this for every girl out there, ENJOY !

Im back here 20 months after I bought this, because it broke and I want another one.
This sucker heats up fast and I love that feature. Just don't let this touch your head, ( as I did several times, oooh that is painful and takes awhile to heal) I used the top heat setting but it is adjustable. I have fine limp hair and this would curl it and hold. Very hard to find for me. Im getting another one, even though Im paying more this time.

This is one of the best curling irons ever!,
This review is from: Tournmaline Ceramic Curling Iron, 1-Inch (Health and Beauty)
I researched curling irons and watched several hair tutorials in which a more expensive curling iron was used, but kept coming back to this one. I stopped into Walmart to pick up some stuff...and happened across it. It was $13...I couldn't pass it up! I picked up the 1" barrel and went straight home to try it out!
I washed my hair and put in some curl activating creme and let my hair air dry for a couple of hours and sprayed in some thermal protector spray and used a blow-dryer to finish drying. I was amazed at the smoothness of pulling this iron through my hair! Very gentle; no pulling, no breaking hair. And the curls come out smooth and shiny. The iron heats up FAST...and comes with a heat shield guard for storing or while it sits on your counter/dresser/etc...It has a heat setting dial from 5-30...I got great results from 20...and I usually have to use the highest setting. If you know how to curl your hair...you won't be disappointed in the iron! For $13...what do you have to lose?

Does NOT curl,

I plugged it in, turned up the heat setting and waited about 5 minutes. I have curled my hair numerous times in the past with other irons, but this iron did NOT curl my hair. More like just flipped the ends up and left dents in my hair. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT.

I love this curling iron! It heats up very fast. It has a ceramic coating so it never frizzles your hair. And best of all (and the main reason I bought this item) it has a heat shield. You can put this shield on the hot iron the minute you finish using it and then put it away in the drawer again. You don't have to wait for it to cool down. The heat shield protects the iron from scorching things (or starting a fire!) while it cools down. I have another one of these in my primary residence that I have loved for years. I bought this one to keep in my second home. And frankly, I'll probably buy another one to keep in reserve, just in case one of these two goes on the fritz. Anyway, I highly recommend this product to anyone.

My wife had one of these for our travel camper and wanted another for our home. WE was unable to find it anywhere so I checked with Amazon and found the 3/4"! The curling iron is comfortable to hold in her hand while curling her hair and has a choice of lots of temperatures. The cord stays uncurled, too.

Good quality product for money. The only problem is that after a year or so, the coating wears off the barrel (but I guess that is to be expected).

Great Curling Iron,
This review is from: Tournmaline Ceramic Curling Iron, 1 1/4-Inch (Health and Beauty)
I bought this to replace this $20 Vidal Sassoon gold plated one and this one is SOOO much better. My curls fell out very soon after I used the vidal sassoon one even if I used hair products. I have thick Asian hair so that might have been another reason why my curls never stay. But with this curling iron I can sleep on my curls and my hair still stays relatively curly the next morning. The 1 1/4 creates beautiful curls too.

A good curling iron,

This curling iron got good and hot very quickly. It definitely gave my fine, thin hair a good curl after a few seconds. The hair didn't slide out as easily as I would have liked, but the curl stayed longer than expected - my hair doesn't hold curls well with other curling irons. For the price, it was pretty much what I wanted, and I'm very satisfied.
