Tovolo Pancake Pen
Write your name, draw a picture, or fill a pancake mold without the mess. Tovolo's Pancake Pen allows you to create fun designs with your pancake batter. The bottle is ergonomically shaped giving you comfort while making your pancakes.
Each pen measures 2.75 x 2.75 x 11.25 inches and holds 3 cups of batter. You'll find clear measurement markings on the outside of the pen and inside the cap allowing you to mix your batter in the pen. The lid has an easy flow cap allowing the batter to flow effortlessly on to your pan. The bottom cap allows for easy filling and cleaning.

I picked this up after reading the reviews at Williams Sonoma. I never thought a gadget such as this would come in so handy! If you ever tried pancake molds and they didn't work out so hot, try this pen. It really keeps things clean and it works for all types of batter (cupcake molds, etc.). If you don't finish the pancake batter, simply put the cap on and store in the fridge for the next day. Clean up is simple... dishwasher safe. Love it!

There's nothing fancy or spectacular about the Tovolo Pancake Pen. But who needs fancy and spectacular when what you really need is something that actually WORKS. And the Pancake Pen is up to the task.
Here's the deal: When you make pancakes and you want to avoid the mess on the counter, the Pancake Pen is your best friend. Likewise, when you want to make interesting shapes or get the batter into the animal shaped mold so that your lion pancake actually looks like a lion instead of a beached whale, the Pancake Pen is your best friend.
I think the item works best when you make the batter in a bowl and then pour the batter into the Pancake Pen. This is for two reasons: 1. You'll be surprised at how fast you can consume 3 cups of batter when making pancakes... so being able to refill from a bowl is smart. (Do it over the sink, no mess). 2. If you use a light and fluffy mix, the rapid expansion in the Pen will result in a over foamed nightmare if you miscalculate and try to mix the batter inside the pen.
The Pancake Pen is diswasher safe; however, take note - there is a small silicone seal in the outer rim on the underside of the nozzle top. The seal helps make sure you don't get batter leakage with use. (If you snickered at "Batter Leakage" because it's so close to bladder leakage, you're warped, but probably very funny). Anyway, this seal can come out of the rim during hand or machine washing. I've used the Pen without the seal and noticed no significant problems (there was no batter leakage) but I do believe the seal serves a purpose, so be aware it's there and verify it's still there when you drain the sink or empty the dishwasher.... My boyfriend is a pancake fanatic so I make pancakes twice a week (weekends - who has time to cook pancakes monday-friday). Very easy to use. I add all ingredients to the container and shake. However, it's a challenge adding the mix because the mouth can't accommodate the cup diameter of my measuring cup. Also, the dry mix sometimes gets caught in the spout when shaking.
I wish It also came with the muffin pen spout because essentially, they're the same product, just with different size spouts. The spout is removal so it would save me buying (and storing) 2 pens - but I guess that's how Tovolo makes money.

I have used this dispenser a couple of times. It is exactly what I needed: a well-designed, practical dispenser for crepe batter.
The cup-shaped lid allows you to stand it upside down without spilling a drop of batter (the nozzle touches the lid). In this way, the batter is already at the nozzle when you are ready to pour it on the griddle. The bottom also has a screw-on lid, which allows you to add more batter without taking the top off.
The wide opening on the nozzle lets both thin and thick batter go through easily. The material looks and feels sturdy.
All in all, a well-designed batter dispenser.

Cupcakes all have to have the same volume of batter so that they bake evenly, and this product helps with that. It also helps with keeping batter off the pan between cups, an added bonus. A funnel helps to get the batter into it.

I was tired of scooping cake batter into a mini cupcake pan and making a mess. No longer. This pancake pen is wonderful for cake batter. The bottom also unscrews (as well as the top) so clean up is super, super fast and easy! It is also really good for pancakes but do not try to mix the pancake mix in the container. There is a clear cap but it doesn't plug the pen tip so the mix gets into the cap and it also just doesn't mix the powder and liquid completely no matter how hard you shake it.

I dont know about pancakes but for honey it works really well. We heat it to decrystalize in this as well. Honey is always a mess but this keeps it better then anything I have had. The brown version is cheaper and free shipping atm.
