This is a great cover. It has vent holes around the edge of the top which are completely separate from the finger *indentations*, which protects your fingers from being burned. It is sturdy, has gone throught the dishwasher many times with no problem, and bright colored-- I haven't had to search for it like our old white one. It is just the right size: wide enough for a dinner plate, but tall enough for a heaped bowl. I like the collapsible feature, but note that there is a little trick to popping it out; you have to push at a certain distance from the edge, then it pops easily. We are very satisfied!

Easy to clean, space saver, by far this is the best microwave cover I've ever bought. Just got another one for my mother-in-law too.

It serves as a splatter screen in the microwave, but also a cover for food sitting out, like a cake or pie (handy in the summer). Because of the steam holes in the top; when used upside down it serves as a strainer too.

It's nice that it takes up no more space than one of the dinner plates when collapsed. I store it there, with the dishes, the most frequently used option. When the fuller/taller lid is required, I've found no problem with the expanding plastic, opened by holding opposite sides with both hands then applying thumb pressure inside the edge, both sides at the same time. Pops up easily that way.

This item can take the place of 3 or 4 cooking items so for those of us who have limited cupboard space, this is ideal.

I purchased this as a replacement for my old microwave food cover, assuming this would be a space saver. Unfortunately, it takes my husband's physical strength to collapse it - unless it's warmed up in the microwave beforehand! Even he finds it hard to open from a collapsed state - I cannot do it at all. Otherwise as described and would be a nice product if it wasn't advertised as collapsible (hmm... maybe I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place).

I've tried several over the years, and this is the best of the big ones.

Pros:
Flexible use, from flat to 3 ½ inches high.
Easy to store.
Handle is easier to use than some others.
Better ventilation (more holes) than many others.
Easy to expand: just push it out along the inner rim rather than from the middle.
Easy to clean.

Cons:
As an earlier reviewer noted, tomato sauce will stain the clear section. My cover is primarily red, and the stain doesn't bother me.

Suggestion:
For cups and small bowls I prefer the Microwave Splatter Screen, which I also bought on Amazon. It's very easy to use and to clean. This one's been splattered repeatedly by tomato sauce but the stains always wash off.

I ordered the collapsible cover on the strength of one of the positive reviews. There is no problem opening or collapsing the cover. it's great and much better than plastic wrap

This is a durable choice for a microwave food cover -- doesn't have hard, rigid plastic that can crack like others. Easily collapses for storage and uncollapses for use. To uncollapse, grasp it with the bottom facing you and push through with your thumbs while holding the lip with the rest of your fingers. This may be a little difficult the first time but it will get easier as you break it in. No more microwave splatter!

Never had a problem before with similar plastic products, but after a mere 3.5 minutes at 70% power (reheating a bowl of chili beans) the entire top of this cover melted into a red sludge. Oh well, it was hard to collapse & expand anyway.

I purchased 3 of the Tovolo microwave food covers more than a year ago. We use them every day and we consider them indispensable. In the past, we had always had problems with microwave splattering which resulted in additional cleaning. No more microwave splattering since purchasing the Tovolos. Cleaning the microwave is a breeze. We always wash them in the dishwasher and they continue to collapse without problems. They are of good size and can cover most containers and plates. I have found them to be very useful.

I ordered this microwave cover because it came up in a search on "silicone microwave cover." The description didn't say anything about the materials in the product. Turns out it is made of rigid plastic, and only the accordion part is silicone, if that. I am no longer using any plastics in contact with food, so I'm sending this product back.
