Best pop molds I've ever used!,

This review is from: Tovolo Groovy Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6, Yellow (Kitchen)
I've used several ice pop molds over the years, and up until now I thought Tupperware's pop molds were by far the best. These Tovolo molds lack the ability to replace either the cap or the handle (they are one molded piece) but the plastic used in the cap/handle and the mold is easily the best I've ever seen for pop molds. It's too early to predict how well these will actually hold up after dozens of freezings and thawings, but if the quality of materials is any indication, they should last a long, long time.
One month later: While I still think these are overall the best pop molds I've ever used, I did discover one thing about them (the hard way, naturally): don't drop them on anything hard (i.e., a tile floor) after they've been in the freezer for a day or more. The yellow caps/lids tend to get brittle after freezing, and they will crack and/or break. The opaque molds don't appear to have this issue, although I don't plan to intentionally test their break-resistance threshold. I glued mine back together with Barge Cement. It's not pretty but it's functional.

Works well but BIG!,
This review is from: Tovolo Groovy Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6, Yellow (Kitchen)
These molds work really well for their purposes.
The good: - BPA free - Cheap! - Very sturdy - Drip tray definitely helps - Easy to clean and use The bad: - Really large sizes - may be too big for kids - Popsicle stick to the mold somtimes

My kids love making these popsicles. The only thing I can say is that they are awful big for kids. My kids can never finish one of these because they are so large.

These molds looked flimsy in the photo, but they are sturdy. I use them daily and there is nothing I've found that comes close to being this good. They are easy to handle and stand up straight in the base, no tipping. Easy to wash, they don't stain and the pops slide out of the sleeve handily after being put in warm water for a few seconds. Best of all, the molds are individual. The sticks stay in place, too. I make fudgesickles by doubling diet packaged hot chocolate (Nestle or Swiss Miss), letting it cool and pouring it in the molds. Each mold holds 1/2 cup liquid ...terrific! Cristal Light is great, too (mix it a little strong). Have treats all day and stay skinny!

I was very excited to find pop molds online since I couldn't find them in the store. All the great reviews and the price helped me decide on these. What I didn't expect was the size of the mold. I thought these would be about the size of a regular popsicle that you buy at the store, but they are easily double that. These are fine (or too big) for an adult eating the pop, but my daughter can not eat this much!
The things I really like about this mold are the ease of use and the drip tray on the stick. They are easily cleaned and stored.

These are excellent pop molds. About the size of a typical fudge pop, they are sturdy and easy to fill. They are a little big for little kids but otherwise excellent. An update: I bought these molds for several friends. They all love them. Also worth noting is that the molds slip down easily, but securely, between the rungs on my freezer shelf. If I have just a little OJ left in the carton or a piece of fruit that is getting a little overripe, I'll often make one or two pops and just slip it between the rungs without using the mold-holder. It's convenient and I find that I like the variety of pops I've thrown together.

Iced Pleasure on a Stick!,

I had tried other Popsicle molds before finding Tovolo and was sorely disappointed. The plastic sticks would break after just a couple of uses, the molds did not hold very much, and the holder was not that steady in my freezer. These Tovolo Yellow Groovy Pop Molds, in my opinion, work on every level. The molds make a beautiful Popsicle with an abundant amount of iced product, the sticks are strong, and the container holding the 6 molds are sturdy in my over-stuffed freezer. The molds go through the dishwasher without an issue and don't retain any coloring nor odor from their last use. I am thrilled and would definitely recommend.

Wanted to make my own healthy popsicles and couldn't believe how hard it was to find them in the stores. So got these and am very happy with them. The plastic they're made out of is heavy duty so they should last for years if not a lifetime. Also they are a decent size-6 oz per pop.

I like to eat frozen juice bars, but they are expensive compared to regular popsicles, so I decided to buy a set of these molds and make them myself. The base tray is great as it holds the molds securely upright, and the popsicle "stick" has a drip tray top that serves as a cap, which also centers the stick in the mold.
I made some frozen grape juice and they turned out great--no need to ever buy juice bars again. Make sure you freeze them long enough--I was impatient and tried it after 3 hours and it just broke apart. So I left it in the freezer overnight. Just run some warm water over the mold and they slide right out. The drip tray is a little annoying, but if you make sure you leave an inch of space when you are filling up the mold, it generally won't get in the way when you're eating the popsicle.

Excelent Pop Molds,

This review is from: Tovolo Green Groovy Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6 (Kitchen)
I bought these pop molds because I was looking for molds that were BPA free and had sticks included. I did have to go to the manufacturer's website to find out that they are BPA free.
I think these molds are well made and very sturdy. I like that they are individual molds, but they fit securely into the base. I carried full molds through the house to our chest freezer and was not afraid that they would fall out of the base. The molds are big and I think that they are a bit too big for my three year old. She got bored with eating the pop about half way through. My only disapointment is that they did not come with directions or recipes although there are a few on the Tovolo website. I plan to buy at least one more set of these molds. |
