5.0 out of 5 stars great product and great service from Trovolo
This is my first review (I think) but the great customer service I received from Trovolo made me want to write this. 5.0 out of 5 stars great product and great service from Trovolo, April 9, 2007

This review is from: Tovolo Stainless Steel Dripless Baster (Kitchen)
This is my first review (I think) but the great customer service I received from Trovolo made me want to write this. After about 7 months of use, the rubber piece inside the tip somehow fell out so it was no longer holding liquid. We LOVED this baster, so I contacted Trovolo and told them about it. In about a week, they happily sent me a new tip. I was impressed with their customer service and I'm still impressed with the product despite the small mishap with the tip. Don't waste your money on a cheap wal-mart baster. Buy this one. It made a great stocking stuffer for my girlfriend who uses it to cook the best hot wings in the world.

2009 Edit: almost 2 years later and this thing still works perfectly. Still looks brand new, too. We take the tip off before placing the rest in the dishwasher (silicon goes on top rack, stainless steel on bottom).

2010 Edit: I had to sacrifice this thing to drain the oil from a portable gas generator. It was cold, dark, I couldn't figure out where the oil drain was located, and I had to change the oil or else. Somehow this baster popped in my mind and it didn't fail me. You can imagine the mess I would have made had it not been a dripless baster. Didn't feel comfortable using it for food anymore, so I said goodbye to our 2 year old baster and I had to promise my now-wife I would order a new one, which I did.

I've had this almost a year. Highly recommend it. Very high quality. No cheap plastic. It's metal and the bulb is of high quality rubber. The tip is plastic and removable for easy cleaning. That is the part that keeps the liquids from dripping and it really works. That is of high quality as well as I have had this in some really hot juices/fats and doesn't seem to come close in melting like I have had happened to me with the cheap plastic ones. It just doesn't drip going from one spot to another. Love it. I use it alot when I'm cooking burgers or other meats in frying pan and I want to get the fats/juice out of the pan, I use the baster and let it continue to keep cooking. No tipping pans anymore.

UPDATE:09/20/2009
Still works good but just started where it would occassionally drip but still happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baster, January 3, 2007

This baster is sturdy and well engineered and uses quality material; it doesnt drip, the tip design makes it easy to use, and has powerful and effortless suction and release- even in the hottest liquids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great baster, February 25, 2007

This is a great baster and so worth the money. Other basters are horrible when you compare them to this item! It truly is dripless!

My wife will tell you I have ruined quite a few basters in the past. No more. The tip does not melt and the it does not drip. The one way valve works great!

I actually bought this to use on cars with fluid dispensing and retrieval. It's VERY well made and does exactly what it's supposed to do BUT if I had my choice again I'd buy the one with the clear tube so that I can see how much fluid I'm picking up or dispensing and what condition the fluid is in.

Held correctly, this thing really is dripless. Held incorrectly, not so much. You get the hang of it quickly, though. It has a good capacity for liquid in the bulb and is relatively easy to clean for this type of kitchen tool. Happy with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked Perfectly!, July 16, 2011

This baster performed impeccably--I roasted a duck today & it slurped up every bit of fat from my roasting pan without dripping! The angled tip & powerful bulb made the process quick & easy. I was initially concerned about cleaning it since I couldn't see thru the stainless tube. However, it was easy to pop off the bulb then fill the tube with soap & hot water to flush everything out.

Don't you get tired of the mess most basters make...you squeeze the tube, pull up the juice and try to make it to the measuring cup before it all drips out between the stove and counter top? I've purchased several over the years, including one for more money, and they all do the same thing. This TOVOLO DRIP LESS BASTER is the ONLY one that has ever worked. It's made with stainless steel and a silicone bulb, with a small "shuttle valve" that closes until YOU squeeze the bulb. I make beef stew and keep the juices from the pot while the beef is browning and this picks up even the smallest dab of juice and does not drip any of it. I won't want to get rid of this one, it's a real keeper!

I had a cheap plastic baster for years that had a layer of crud in it that had been there since day one. I could never get it clean, no matter how many bottle brushes I tried. Plus I accidently put it in the sink with some red Kool-Aid and it was stained forever after. This one is so nice, with it's removable, drip-less tip (plus the included extra tip just in case) and the fact that it's stainless steel! It was really worth the money to be able to make sure it's clean after each use and will never stain. It really doesn't drip like the plastic ones do. Very nice.
