Book Description

March 2004
If successfully deployed as a weapon, smallpox would be far more terrible than anthrax. Highly contagious, smallpox has a fatality rate of 30 per cent, and many survivors are disfigured for life. This book describes the results of a cutting-edge computer model used to simulate a smallpox epidemic in a two-town county. By providing public health policymakers with a variety of feasible vaccination and isolation strategies, these models are playing a critical role in the development of a national small pox containment strategy.
