5.0 out of 5 stars An instant favorite, August 21, 2006
This review is from: Toward a Perfect Love: The Spiritual Counsel of Walter Hilton (Paperback)
This is an incredibly spiritual book that points the reader to Jesus...and offers do-able, gracious advice on how to find him. I half-expected archaic prose -- Walter Hilton lived in the 14th century! -- and lofty, abstract musing. But instead I found myself being mentored by a kind-hearted old man who humbly offered me advice on how to live a "mixed life" -- a life both earthy & spiritual. An instant favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME, November 7, 2007
No other book brings you to the knowledge and understanding of Christ and His love for humanity. Though centries old the message is clear and touching...calling you to a new place. You feel like you are being counceled by a dear friend. My most treasured book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic for Contemporary Christianity, September 24, 2010
By
This review is from: Toward a Perfect Love: The Spiritual Counsel of Walter Hilton (Paperback)
Amazing. The writer was a contemporary of John Wycliffe, living in England in the 14th century. This book reads as if written in history past, but its themes and subjects are extremely relevant to us today. He writes of: Lordship Salvation (and falls in the "grace alone" camp, no offense meant to LS brothers)(Book I, chapter 4), the reformation of the image of God in man's soul (Book II, chapter 1), and in a chapter I found to be facinating, he instructs on the nature of, and recognition of, false teachers in the ministry (Book II, chapter 3, "True and False Light").
