5.0 out of 5 stars Bill's best yet, August 22, 2000

This review is from: Toward the Unknown Region (Audio CD)
This CD is fantastic. Unmistakably William Orbit, this is musically similar to the later Strange Cargo releases in terms of overall feel. Lovers of their "Exhibit A" record may find a bit of a clash of textures and feel, but I don't see how you could be disappointed. A previous reviewer discredited the use of effects on the vocals, however, I think that these effects display the ingenuity and foresight of Mr. Orbit. The end effect being: instead of someone singing along with music, Laurie Mayer is singing the music. Her voices becomes intertwined with the music, similar to the other instruments in the songs. Unfortunately, this may have been necessary as the vocal parts on their own are less than stellar, though not bad. The sound of the songs are dark and syrupy and will remain lodged in your brain. Any fan of down-tempo electronica cannot be without this recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep Deep Dub and tight beats, April 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Toward the Unknown Region (Audio CD)
This is William Orbit's best album. Unlike all of his other material, this album maintains a cheese factor of absolute zero. He's a gifted producer who's really come into his own it seems. Not over-produced, just lush ambience, lots of bass, and enough dynamics to carry you through nicely. Gumbo Ya Ya and Shine On Me (Andromeda Mix) are unbelievable. Turn up loud for this album. Dreamy, energetic, deep. Dub in the dance nineties

hello mikron here, this CD is a great work by william Orbit, a really great producer of many artist all around the world !To even begin to see how important "Toward the Unknown REGION " is ,you must have gotten to know all the work Willaim Orbit is famous for , this work is his own inner creativety , that falls into the category of ambient Dub, that utilizes a variety of what i call Resonating or colliding fields of energy and full spectrum music ! It opens portals in your energy fields so to open creativety in the mind so as to be able to feel much clearer ~! I recommend this CD to artist, and people who can reconize a need to open toward a greater expression and expansion ! Its as simply as that ! peace miKron !
